Went to the Leeds Cruise last night and met a pal there who asked to see under the bonnet of the 'stang. I obliged and, as I lifted the bonnet, he exclaimed' "You've got a mouse!"

No, it's not an Ecoboost, it's a GT. But he was on to something. Indeed, 'resting' upon the intake manifold was a grey rodent. A bit too big to be a mouse and a little too cute to be a rat. In fact it only had a very short tail and quite meaty back legs.

Oh my God, a rabbit! I've unwittingly cooked a, possibly live, rabbit.

Don't know when it made it's way into its warm and cosy (and final) resting place, as I can't remember when I last had the bonnet up. May have been at last weeks Cars in the Park. To be expected when parking in a field. But then I often park in fields (or next to them) at work, so it could have been there weeks.

I discreetly removed the poor little thing this morning when the kids weren't looking, but the little bugger has left little bit of staining and some congealed juices in the manifold and partly on the plastic cover. I've been able to remove 85% of this my usual all purpose cleaner, but there is still a bit of a brown tinge to part of the manifold. Also, the juices could have leaked into parts unknown! And there's now a faint smell of school dinners when the engine gets warm. (I guess that answers what the 'mystery meat' was at school.

Anyone got any advice on how to clean the remaining bits or where I might try to look for overspill?

Yeah, I'm worried what other damage it might've done to get there!

Your car now should be referred to as Waterstang Down or Fiver.

Strange.. years ago i was asked to service a 2003 GT. I noticed something strange under the bonnet.. what looked like dog food mixer on/under the inlet manifold. Obviously these little rodents love a warm V8 valley.

I'm more shocked the rabbit got up there, it must have climbed in under the belly pan, but to get on top of the engine, that's some skill!

The Easter Bunny was having a nice nap after the long weekend he had last month and that's where he ended up after a few too many carrot juices....

Hope he didn't suffer though because I love animals

A friend of mine thinks it is a squirrel and that it's tail has burnt off! Says it's quite common with the little lighters!
