I haven't really paid it too much attention but as I understand it, the new cars will likely come with the CPC version of the 5.2...or something else - but the general consensus seems to be that the FPC is done.

If there's never another Ford FPC Mustang - does that make the GT350 more or less valuable? I think it makes it more rare and potentially valuable, personally. Do you guys think this short run will cause overly expensive and hard to obtain service parts?

Me crazy, and I can't help myself
When you say "new cars" do you just mean the next generation of regular mustangs and any future special edition cars?

as far as value goes, i think if true it can only help the future value, especially if the subsequent cars don't have the same sound or the same rev range. As far as parts go, i'm sure they will always be more expensive than coyote (which they are) but i think we are safe from the porsche/exotic tax.

Like I said before, instant classic. Most likely first and last production American FPC.

Not only last and only American FPC, but last NA FPC ever produced by any manufacturer and highest displacement FPC V8 ;)

Whole bunch of firsts/lasts that can do nothing but help the value IMO!

Does it have anything to do with the issues of oil consumption and a few motors biting the dust? I mean Ford is saying the car could burn a quart of oil every 500 miles and to have no fear, that is within normal parameters. Seems extreme for a modern engine but I am not an expert.

I hope it means the cars increase as a collectable vehicle down the road. I plan on mine staying in the family for a while. Well, until I get hit in the face with a shovel and my son takes it. LOL.

Just look at the various issues and failures that have come up....most tied to vibration (oil filter etc). This is NOT a bash but just reality in terms of the fpc. Ford is "Main Stream" aka mass production and as you have seen with various dealership issues it (and its dealers) do not do well with limited run 'unique" cars.

It is fantastic that Ford ran with the fpc project and they should be commended. But it was an engineering experiment - a fantastic one. I truly do not expect to see it continue. One and done--

Future parts--- the real issue is with ALL modern cars....the future parts that are in a world of hurt to find are gonna be the little computers that live everywhere in the car.... C5 Corvette guys already have replacement issues there.

Many years ago an automobile manufacturer was required to keep replacement parts in stock for 7 yrs...that rule is long gone....

I think it's premature having this discussion. I've not seen anything official and a general consensus from a few folks speculating means nothing to me.

Actually, I'm fine either way. Pros and cons for the continuance or discontinuance.

The fact that it's running '18 and may run longer, it's anyone's guess. If they would have stopped after '16 at 5,000 maybe they would appreciate. They can hold a decent resale, maybe 5 to 10 under if '18 is their last year. Either way I don't see them appreciating...in my lifetime anyway.

Edit: the GT500/cobra may come with the cpc supercharged version of the 5.2 but that doesn't mean Ford won't do a 5.2 FPC 350 along side it.

Last rumor I heard was that Ford needed to achieve 12,500 total production to qualify for some racing series. I think MY15-17 will be about 1K short of that total (approx).

Anyone heard of such rule?

I think 2018 is the last year for FPC engines. We know 2018 GT350 will come out.
2019-up GT500 5.2 CPC forced induction most likely.

What do you guys think the minimum units sold would be for engine development?

I think the VooDoo/350 will run till the end of the S550 platform because Ford needs to recoup the R&D costs of designing the motor/suspension/etc.

I know most people who bought this car want it to be collectible/rare/increase value, but rationalizing it won't make it so.
