I didn't get much rasp with the stock mufflers combined with the H-pipe. At least not with normal driving. WOT, sure.

Yeah normal driving it's fine, but anything at high throttle and over 4500 rpm was raspy. Those mufflers just do that.

If you don't like the rasp of the FRPP you will hate the stock exhaust and a resonator delete. I'd try either just the axleback section of the Touring with the stock resonator or a different axleback with it.
No kidding. Steve made it sound like it had a deeper idle rumble and just a tad louder at WTO. He said it was quitter that full cat back with either H or X pipes ???

That's all true but no mention of the super tinny rasp the stock mufflers create. I did this first and wouldn't do it again. Try an axleback with the resonator. Much higher quality sound.

Would it be possible to run your factory resonator with the touring cat back? Will that even bolt right up or would you need to weld? I'm also wondering for myself as my sport cat back is a bit loud on cold start.

You could run the factory resonator....would need to weld or cut n clamp.

Yeah, I'd definitely try this before getting an H-pipe with stock mufflers.

Does anyone know if there is an "H-pipe" available for the Ford Racing Touring Cat-Back exhaust or would I need to have an exhaust shop fabricate one? I'd like to try it to see how it changes the exhaust note. Thanks much!
I was told years back by a very reputable aftermarket exhaust manufacturer that the H-Pipe gives you a deeper sound with less rasp than an X. Never had the opportunity to try both options on the same car to see for myself, so I've gone with that advice.

I actually called Borla to see if they had an H-pipe available so I could swap out the X on my FRPP Touring cat-back, or if they had plans to offer one, and was told that no one had ever made that request. Anyway, I've been trying to decide whether to have one made locally, or order one online and modify it slightly to fit.

Just would be nice if I had a better idea of what exactly it would do to the sound.

TorkN8R - Instead of using the stock resonator, you might try the Borla resonator...

Steviebee72, did you use the Borla X-Pipe initially? When you say it's louder and raspier, are you comparing your setup to the stock/OEM setup (with resonator)? Thanks much!
no i didnt try the borla x pipe,

its louder than the borla cat back touring system.

up to 2500 rpm its nice and not raspy, after it gets a little tingy, especially when cold.

i also have kooks LTs with the green cats, makes it a little bit raspier.

Steviebee72 - why did you decide to go with the H-Pipe?
everything ive heard is the H will make it less raspy.
I've heard the Ford cat back system with the x pipe and wanted something different.

I tried the corsa extreme, way too raspy and way to loud for my hood (i leave early for work and live in crowded area)

Just got this from Borla,

"Hello,

Thank you for choosing to use the Ford Racing by Borla exhaust, I am glad to say that resonator 60561 will work in place of your current x-pipe to quiet down the sound of the exhaust. If you decide to purchase this part I recommend purchasing it through one of our distributors for the best price.

Thank you,"
