Does anyone know if there is an "H-pipe" available for the Ford Racing Touring Cat-Back exhaust or would I need to have an exhaust shop fabricate one? I'd like to try it to see how it changes the exhaust note. Thanks much!

Just a thought:

Since the Ford Racing exhausts are made by Borla. You could order the Borla Touring axle back and a separate H-pipe.

I put a Mishimoto H-pipe with Borla S-Type axle backs on mine. Here are a few revs.

The Touring will be quieter, of course.

Borla Touring is not the same as FRPP by Borla. They're different muffler designs.

OP,
Do you have the catback already? If not, I agree with the above in general in terms of buying the FRPP Touring axleback and a separate H-pipe resonator delete (many options here).

I should have checked to see if the FRPP Touring was available in an axle back before posting. I assumed they weren't.

i put the misimoto h pipe on with the borla touring catback
louder, little bit raspier

you'll have to cut 4-5 inches or so off the h-pipe. its hefty Stainless too

H-Pipe for Ford Racing/Borla Touring

Steviebee72, did you use the Borla X-Pipe initially? When you say it's louder and raspier, are you comparing your setup to the stock/OEM setup (with resonator)? Thanks much!

Steviebee72 - why did you decide to go with the H-Pipe?

Did you install an H on your GT? Curious about the results... I liked the sound of the H on the videos too.

Mike's Mustang - How is drone with the H-pipe? With my FRPP Touring Cat-Back I get a little around 2000 - 2500 RPMs. Tolerable so I don't want to make it worse by swapping out the x-pipe for an h-pipe. Thanks much!

I don't have any drone, but that is because I have Borlas. I did a little research after BmacIL said that Borla and FRPP by Borla are not the same. From what I found out. The FRPP are not specifically designed to not have any drone. I'm not 100% certain, but I doubt you will make the drone you're currently having worse by swapping in an H-pipe.

You may call around to local exhaust shops to get a quote for them to make you one. If you are just wanting to see what it sounds like. The cheapest one I've seen online is the CJ Pony Parts one. I would think a local shop could make it for less than that though.

All Borla-made products are designed to not drone. The FRPP systems are designed to produce slightly different tone than the Borla branded products. If you're having drone, there's some other systems interactions or installation error.

JohnK check to make sure none of the hanger rods are fully against the hanger bushings and that they're not bound up when tightened. This could lead to some frequencies passing through the car as resonance.

Agreed! When I installed my FRPP Touring Cat back. I had the same resonating around the same RPM's. I re-torqued the shit out of all the bolts and it stopped.

Ultimately...I ended up removing the exhaust and am running it stock. I did like the start up sound but absolutely hated the raspy nails on a chalk board sound when really getting on it.

I'm considering trying the H-pipe resonator delete from Mishimoto with the stock exhaust. Steve from CJ Pony has a video install and it seems that it may be what I after as far as sound goes.

I'll be selling the FRPP that I took off.

If you don't like the rasp of the FRPP you will hate the stock exhaust and a resonator delete. I'd try either just the axleback section of the Touring with the stock resonator or a different axleback with it.
