It is a mechanical pump in the trans.

Also.. I got my factory dif pump working just fine with the pin out and an ohm meter. I bought the short pigtail for the plug that goes into it and will be splicing it into my stand alone, switch operated setup.

What pins did you apply power and ground to?

pin 6 is ground.

I have 1 & 4 jumped to switched power right now with a single pole relay and a switch.

I havent had the time yet to monkey with test wiring a multiple manual switch control to have more than 1 speed.

I'm betting that I'd actually have to use a variable voltage set up to alter speed. I just need to dig into further.

pin 2 is my constant fused power.

I'm not sure what the "diagnostic" pin actually does. I'm not terribly invested in making it function as it does with a factory harness.

As of now, I've test wired it to validate function.

Finishing testing and doing a nice, clean, wiring job with weatherpack connectors isnt going to happen for a few more weeks.

Here's the pinout:

Hey Hack,
You make a compelling argument for the tranny swap...I keep going back and forth with always falling back on a couple points: 1) my existing transmission is stock to the car and will perform as advertised with the cooler & 2) I really don't want to fork over more $$ to Ford..

Could you offer up some of the factors for you in deciding on the full tranny swap?

Thanks in advance
I really haven't decided whether to do a transmission swap or not either. In that post I was just trying to give my thoughts regarding the difficulty of installation of the different options. I have done a fair amount of wrenching and have more balls than brains sometimes when it comes to going ahead and doing something myself. Most of what I've done for wrenching hasn't been on such a new and expensive vehicle, though.

I don't want to do the transmission swap because as far as I know the pump is running all the time, and I would prefer to only have the pump run when it's actually needed. I think the track pack transmission will run too cold in the winter. The additional cost is a factor as well.

I don't want to do the electric pump because I'm not very comfortable with whether the fluid levels will be correct when the pump isn't running and I really don't prefer to have the pump run all the time.

Right now I'm leaning towards replacing the transmission despite the fact that $3,000 or $4,000 is a significant amount of money to me. Since it's a proven, factory designed system I think it will be very reliable and I won't have to worry about it or inspect it frequently.

juice ain't worth the squeeze.

I remember hearing him say that on the show and thought it was pretty good.

i literally have no concept of what kindigit does beyond door handles for hotrods.

I'm not clear on why you find that so offensive.

Sorry, I thought it was the usual other people crapping on other people's work because they are on tv etc. I misread the meaning of your post, sorry.

Huh, interesting. The episode where he said it aired within the last week or two. That's why it was fresh in my mind. I had never heard it before.

I'm with you on going back and forth, I think I'm going to use a "step up" strategy. I will start with an external pump ; knowing that eventually I may need to replace the transfer with the internal pump.

he gets a pass. He built a pretty bad ass 65 galaxie and managed to get over 250K for it.

( yes, i had to look him up :))

his shop also did a better job installing kindigit door handles than i did. :headbonk:
