Hi,

Is there a way to install rain-sensing wiper by myself without dealer? If so, who carries this part?

Thank you,

I would say no, since it would involve installing the sensors, replacing the switch and reprogramming the BCM.

On the topic of wipers, is there any way to shut off the "extra" wipe when you spray the windshield? That has got to be the most annoying thing I've ever seen on a car, it just smears the crap back around so you have to spray it again.

It's called courtesy wipe. You can turn it off in the center screen menu.

We had that feature on our Australian Fords; I call it the "cleansing wipe". I like it myself, gets rid of the last few dribbles of water running down the screen.

Ford really did a terrible job packaging the rain sensing wipers with the adaptive cruise as a package option. No way was I going to pay another $1200 for that. I really wanted the wipers but the cruise wasn't something I wanted on my car. That little radar sensor on the front is ugly as hell, too.

I love the adaptive cruise control, I didn't even consider not getting it as an option! Must say it's nice have the auto wipers, I bet it would take a lot to add them.

Usually there is a different windshield to incorporate the sensor. Not sure if on the mustang that is the case.

I believe a competent car audio shop is able to add rain sensing wipers to a car. As far as I remember from when I did this work for a shop on the side, someone installed that. The kit worked okay... wasn't worth it in the end.

I personally am a die hard " Rain X" user. I treat all my vehicles with it about once a month. I don't even remember when the last time I used my windshield wipers. Rain X is a fabulous product for those that like a clean windshield.

Maybe you need to clean the wiper blades themselves from time to time? I've found I have to do this between washings during some parts of the year.

I wouldn't choose to have either the wipers or the cruise control automated even if they were no-cost options. Be time for me to stop driving if I ever felt that doing those things myself was getting to be too much of a burden.

I put wax on my windshield, I do not have to use my wipers in light rain
