I think I saw 1.08 and I didn't push the tires that hard maneuvering. The car had more, but the only difference between me and a wall was the tires. I did not care to go further at such a cost.

When you visit, I'd be happy to demonstrate the performance difference between wheels and tires.

I think I could have easily achieved 1.10 g

What value have you observed in your R's on the track?
I appreciate the opportunity to feel the difference in wheels and tires but certainly know how much of a gain they can make.

What wheel and tire combination are you running?

6gr wheels and contiforcecontact. You will be in my neck of the woods soon. If you still have my number, give me a shout.

Tom, I certainly don't disagree that wheels and tires make up the vast difference as I have been racing cars since the early '80s and know how much of a difference they can make.

In the last 6 years I have between 10,000 and 11,000 miles of seat time in my Boss 302/Boss 302 LS cars and certainly can tell the difference between the Pirelli P Zero's and the P Zero Corsa's as they are like day and night with respect the grip and lateral adhesion especially when they are properly warmed up so I appreciate what stickier tires and bigger wheels do for handling especially these P Zero Corsa's with a treadwear rating of only 50.

The earlier reply talked only about a tire package making up all of the handling difference therefore not even worth replying to that response.

As many of us know the biggest difference between a GT350 and the R model from a roadholding standpoint is the difference in the treadwear rating of the tires, the larger/lighter wheels, larger tires, shorter springs and 25% stiffer front springs.

Obviously the stance of the R model sits at least 1/2" to 3/4" lower than a GT350 therefore the center of gravity being lower enhances better handling.

In addition we all know that the base R model is probably at least 100 pounds lighter than a Track Pack car based on CF wheels, removal of AC, radio, speakers, floor mats, rear seats, tire inflator/sealant kit, carpet sound deadener, etc.

It is my understanding that on a skidpad the GT350 obtains lateral acceleration of 0.98 g which is very good but the R model obtains lateral acceleration of 1.10 g and IMO this big difference cannot all be done with just a change wheels and tires.

Great to hear that you are enjoying your Track Pack GT350!!!

going to R springs with everything equal brought my ride height down 3/8" . The balance of the height difference is tire size.

you can trim the same 100 lbs back off of a gt350 by installing the RSD and going aftermarket exhaust.

If you switch to lighter wheels and R sized sticky tires, I'd bet that you'll be within 1% of the R on the skidpad.

Couple that with a few pretty inexpensive suspension mods and you can out handle the stock R.

you would be seriously shocked and amazed how much of a difference tires make. It can be the differential that you state and then some.

Sounds like a very nice wheel/tire combination that performs very well.

Yes, should be down your way in a few weeks and just in case I misplaced your contact information please send me a PM and I will give you a call in early January and hopefully we can get together.

Happy Holidays to You and Your Family!

1.30 lateral g in my track pack with Cup2s and the 6gr wheels, which are actually pretty heavy. Bottom line is, R or not, the car is incredibly impressive. Having an R would be awesome, but there are only so many of them. In most instances, on the same rubber, the difference between the R and 350 will be the driver.

Metallic Gray w/ blue stripe at $700 below MSRP in Laramie, WY

I talked to Richard who seemed like a reasonable guy, but I have never been to this dealership.

I almost traded my '16 Tech w/6700 miles in for it but they only offered $50K. A nationwide search on CarGuru lists 131 used 2016 GT350s for sale, starting at $53K, so I can't blame them. Yes, I know many believe that '16 Tech cars like mine have lower value but I think this is just a case losing value as soon as you drive it off the lot, which will happen to the '17s as well.

To answer some questions from PM's:

The R has A/C.
It has the electronics package.
I have not driven the car since the oil cooler line recall was announced on the forum.
Car has been sitting under a car cover and stored on my 4 post lift.
I paid an ADM, but I'm selling for what I have in it.
Thanks for your interest.

Long shot here but does anyone know of a way to find/order a R at MSRP?

Owner of a Ford dealer? I doubt you'll find one anywhere near MSRP. There are a few that claim they paid MSRP but of the 500 sold in each model year (16-17), my guess is maybe 1% paid MSRP. One member claims he is just that good at negotiating.

Even used ones have "Buy it now" of 125k on eBay. The guy must have gotten one cheap and brought it home and immediately put it up for sale saying it was never driven. I hope it rots before he sells it.

Unless you have cash, most finance companies don't want to finance a car at more than MSRP. They will finance a small percentage above but if you pay 100k for a 65k car, you better be putting 30k down. I doubt any normal bank will give you a loan for the whole car if it's that high above MSRP. You then need to look for a specialty car finance company that will most likely be twice the interest rate as a normal loan.

Man I'm really struggling with the ADM on these GT350R's. I'm in Western Canada and there is a blue one at my local dealer with MSRP of $90k and they are asking $120k Canadian. Ford should bump their volumes up on these to reduce the demand side. I can't see enough difference to warrant the massive markup between a 350 and the R.

I grew up in your neck of the woods and certainly appreciate your dilemma.

Send me a PM with your contact information and I will try to help but cannot guarantee anything as I bought a couple of R models in your area at MSRP but know that it is very difficult to do these days.

I am in the market for a Shadow Black '17 with no OTT Stripes and the convenience pack.

Shottenkirk in Jasper GA just sold one, and Pioneer Ford in Bremen GA just sold one.

Planning on trading the 2016, which we aren't too far underwater on.

I wonder if a dealer will take a trade on a 2016 that the oil cooler line TSB hasn't been done on?

My best guess is yes. Once they take it as a trade they can't resell it until the recall is done. That may make them offer you less without saying it. The bigger problem you may face is that it is a tech pack. Even the dealers know there is a more limited market for a tech pack since it really does not work if any track usage is planned.

Not sure what your mileage is but my bet is somewhere between 49-52 is all they will give on a 16 Tech. Just a guess based on what I have seen others wholesale for.

Best of luck!
