Actually with a totally silent car most will assume it's a stock GT and not care one bit. I'd rather give the car some exhaust sound so they damn well know this ain't no v8.
Not quite from my experience. Then again, I have a blackout panel and nothing anywhere on the car.

Here's my dream exhaust:

It's spendy, though (around $2500), and if you have a base interior car (like mine), you have to buy the two piece split bumper from the premium package cars, and have it painted :(

Yeah, but it isn't the Shelby GT350 exhaust system :headbang: (complete with Shelby valance and back up light!). This one is the Shelby system...well minus the flat plane V8 headers  It works because a flat plane V8 is basically two inline 4 engines joined at the crank...

I'm going to buy an EB crate motor and glue it my engine. Easy V8 right there!

My apologies... I should relax... heck, I also blow money on tons of stupid sht as well. I have no room to talk.

What ever makes you happy... go for it...

I would like to hear that in person though... see if it is really worth the money (and it could be). On my speakers it sounds like any other muffler system... with a fire-breathing turbo 4 hooked up to it.

Very happy with my Stainlessworks catback. Deletes the resonator and replaces with a Y pipe. 304SS throughout. Nice sound when you get on it, quiet when you don't.

I just recently picked up a 2016 Eco premium. Coming from a 2010 V6 to a 2012 Roush and now a 2016 Ecoboost I love the new car! But i am banging my head against the wall as to the sound of the car. I know it wont have the V8 rumble of a V8 but it should be better than stock. Ive listened to virtually every video I can get my hands on using Bose headphones and really the Ford Racing mufflers sounded pretty good.

I also ran accross Thermal R&D and i have to say it sounds pretty good online. Anyone ever heard one in person?

I really like the car on the freeway nice and quiet with no drone. But I want to hear it when I put my foot in? What would you suggest?
Dan
Nothing can match the sound of a 302, period. Having said that, however, it seems to me that it is desirable to have a bit more rumble than stock.

Having gone through an intensive search and listening to a myriad of exhausts from different vendors at the Ford Nationals last year, I elected to put a Borla ATAK cat-back on mine and there is no drone whatsoever. When you step on it, you know have a performance exhaust.

As the type of performance exhaust that one puts on his car is purely a matter of personal taste--despite the hype that others may advance--you may find the Bora ATAK to your liking. But hear it in person, as making a decision as to which one to buy, as a result of listening to the sound of an exhaust on the internet, is not only worthless, but a waste of time.

Whatever I need
From the perspective as a daily driver, if I bought my Mustang GT first, I don't think I would have bought another. In other words, I bought an EB first and was so impressed that I bought a GT and sold my EB to my youngest son.

After nearly 30 years of V8 Mustang experience, and although it's my first Coyote, the EB is such an overachiever and feels lighter on its feet (because it is), that it simply is IMO the better overall car. While the Coyote is an impressive engine (once it loosens up with miles), the 2.3 T torque is more impressive 90% of the time.

I don't think I would ever type this, but I think the EB sounds every bit as good too.

I guess there's a lot to be said for us old guys. This is my fifth Mustang convertible--my first was a '68 which I sold in order to buy a '73, and so on--all of which were V-8's. It is hard to believe that I bought my first one 48 years ago.

When I sold my S-197 to buy my current baby, I was more than impressed with the power of the EcoBoost, and I agree with you, having driven the 302, the V-6, and the EcoBoost when deciding to get an S-550, I settled on the EcoBoost immediately--I never thought I would.

However, I do miss the sound of the 302. I do hope you enjoy yours and trust the your youngest enjoys the EcoBoost.

Merry Christmas!

RJ
