Not really. MSRP to MSRP is only worthwhile if its the same company with the same incentive structure on that particular platform. Across different companies, MSRP is meaningless in terms of real world actual cost differentials.MSRP to MSRP is the only fair comparison.
If you get a GTPP for say..32,500 out the door and someone else gets a 1SS for 31,850..does that mean the Mustang was more expensive all along?
No, it means you got a better deal, which can vary wildly.
Its a recommendation used to associate a certain value field with the end consumer. Different manufacturers have different incentive policies. Some have year round incentives, others do not. When setting MSRP they know what incentives will be baked in, and will offer additional ones to react to demand. Its a sales tactic. Some manufacturers purposefully inflate the MSRP knowing they will have a slew of incentives available. Others do not.
What matters is what is actually paid when making a comparison.
