Isn't SD a front plate state?
It is, except under certain conditions. As of Jul 2016, you can apply for a rear plate which states, "Rear Plate Only" on the bottom and costs, I believe an extra $10.00 (could be more, i.e. $25.). The restriction pertains to annual mileage, and it is less then 6000 miles a year. You must show your odometer readings each time you apply. The people I know will garage the cars for the winter, so this may work out for Mustang owners who don't drive in the winter as I do. I have the Craigs' custom bracket and at times I carry my plate in the car. No factory bracket.

I would agree you made the right decision... the body damage would be a deal breaker. Being so close to the 2018 release I would be inclined to wait to see if I liked the changes/improvements. I now how tough waiting can be but how cool some of those improvements might be.

Sorry it happened, I know that sucks but I think you lucked out actually. 2018 GT supposedly magneride and PP2, so if you can wait you might be better off. If not 2017 leftovers may get you a better deal. Good luck.

Good idea you walked away , I would have done the same . Brand new car with body work already done to it is unacceptable

I they SCREWED a dealer nameplate onto the car. I tore the paperwork up, apologized to the salesman who had worked very hard to get me the car I wanted, and walked. Never settle, you will not be a happy owner.
they screwed? have never heard of that before
When I got my S197 it had a sticker on the boot lid, which i got taken off
with my CS I was asked if it was ok if they put a little round sticker at the bottom of the windscreen, I said fine

Mine had 800. Dealer trade. Got 3k more for my trade than any other dealership. Put 7000 miles on in a few months, so I knew the 800 miles was worth 3k in my pocket.
I'm returning my GT and buying from another dealer, the car has 1050 on it now, though i bought it new with 66 and will be returning it with around 1100-1200, I honestly can't say they'll have the easiest time selling the car now. :headbonk:

Also to OP I'd be the same, I wouldn't accept the car with any body damage of any kind, though like others have stated It's not unlikely for the car to be damaged on the lot and repaired and sold as new to us the consumers, you'd never know.. hell even my GT had paint overspray on the back window and it seems as if the rear bumper was replaced, it doesn't match the car at all.

We have to wait 12 months from order for our Mustangs here in Australia.

Mine arrived with several paint defects and the dealer was sure I'd cancel.

I had the car looked at by the detailer who was going to do the Ceramic Pro and he said he could fix it. He did an amazing job of paint correction which the dealer paid for.

I wouldn't want to wait another 12 months!!

In your case I'd be bummed if the car had panel damage so I think you did the right thing and that you should wait for the 2018 model.

I think it's impressive the patience and good judgement you've shown in your decisions. Much better decisions than I tend to make at times. I get so emotional about a car purchase!

I say wait for the 2018 and you'll be happy about it. At a minimum wait until Ford shows the new front and rear styling and see whether you still like it. Then you will know for sure which model year you prefer.

IMO you definitely made the right decision not taking delivery....I would definitely wait to order the 18 personally.

bought mine off the lot with 35miles on it.
15k miles later, no regrets.

Go find a '17 on the lot or order another. If you want, wait for '18.
I'd try to find one on the lot. Waiting only means you're missing out on the Mustang fun.

Yep. I'd take this as a sign to wait for the 18'.

My good friend has a body shop here locally, and they have a contract with the dealers to fix ALL damaged repairs that came off of the truck. Now take for granted they have the best shop anywhere around here. 99.9 percent of individuals would never know it.
This - I would bet that some of us that bought off the lot have cars that have been repaired. It happens, the dealer fixes it and sells it as new, no requirement to report it as it happened before it was titled. I would have had them fix it and give me a discount or a bunch of free oil changes, etc.

However now that its gone - have you gone on Fords site and searched for the car in someone inventory? Find it and if its close go buy it, if not have a local dealer do a dealer trade and buy it from them. Unless you ordered the one with Unicorn Horn powder in the glove box I bet your combination is out there.

Were there any trees around? In my driveway my car was annihilated by acorns, over 100 small dents in one day. These panels are aluminum foil.
