If you're dead set on options like a red interior and have a current vehicle to get you around, I'd wait for the '18's. Maybe I'm wrong, but I would think they'd be out in the Spring. Don't settle on your dream car.

I agree, I've been saying for months that '17 is going to be a short run. I'm predicting order banks open in March with Job 1 in May and deliveries shortly after that.

To the OP, you did the right thing. My father ordered a Brittany Blue LTD 3 times in 1968 before it came in right! I guarantee once you see all the improvements for '18 you'll be happy. I know it seems like a long wait, but in reality you're probably talking 6 months more waiting to have the newest of the new with everything you want. That's how I did it when buying 2 of my 4 Mustangs and I've never regretted it.

I ordered my 2017 on May 3rd, it arrived August 3rd. It came in damaged on the rear driver side quarter. The dealership said we can pdr it out. (I brought my buddy who was a PDR guy to inspect the car with me. I was actually signing the paperwork when he said you need to come here and look). After he said that cannot be PDR'd. They said we can paint it. I said no and walked away. The called me on the next day and said we will order you another one. I waited 60 days for a new one to come in, it came it great. But I wasn't happy with the cost and walked again because they were supposed to get with Ford to get me a better deal. I held off until they made a better deal since they now they had two identical Mustangs on the lot after they fixed the first one.

I bet it gets fixed and sold as new.
Dealerships do this all the time. Nothing new and if fixed correctly, will be impossible to tell apart on the lot.

You made the right decision to walk away and not accept a damaged vehicle.
I would also suggest waiting for '18 refresh and order it the way you want.
We're all looking forward to seeing the updated/upgraded car.
Hope Ford gets it right for you next time.

You did the right thing. They shouldn't have even shown you that car with damage, and those miles... I wouldn't have accepted it either.

Dealers... such a mixed bag. Some a good, more are shady and untrustworthy.

Go to a different dealer, find a good one. Then have them search and get an available car (they can search and trade to dealers all over), or order. But I would not buy/order from that dealership. Seriously. What happened is not acceptable.
So I'd have to say this was a good one, they showed it to you damaged rather than hiding it and letting you know it's here after they fixed it :)

I would of done the same, especially with body damage. Wait for the 18. I bought my 15 off the lot with about 12 miles on it. I took it for a test drive, which added 3..

My good friend has a body shop here locally, and they have a contract with the dealers to fix ALL damaged repairs that came off of the truck. Now take for granted they have the best shop anywhere around here. 99.9 percent of individuals would never know it.

I care about infotainment
I would probably have asked for a discount for the miles and the dent. Maybe $500. And then take as is. You may can still do that. They will probably send the car to the body shop and then sell as new.
Yep, that's exactly what I would have done except I would have demanded a larger discount than that, like $1-2k. If they balked then I'd walk and wait for the '18MY refresh.

I'd just wait on the 18. If you've waited this long, might as well wait just a little bit longer and get plenty more options in the 18s.

You can at least wait and see what the '18 looks like and then decide if it's worth waiting for. I bet Ford announces a for-sale date when they introduce the car. They usually do. Then decide if you want to buy a '17 off the lot or wait. You can get red leather added- katskinz makes kits in all colors. One of the forum vendors was selling the red kits really cheap last month.

Nothing wrong with asking for a larger discount. Consider the dent, the extra mileage, and whatever awaits for '18, and decide what the current car is worth to you. Maybe that is minus $2k or more. Make an offer, or even a low ball offer.

good thing you walked away from that. am not sure how all it works but if there's any dealer repairs, they'll show up on the system later down the road if you want to trade it in...and thus take a hit on that even if the dealer repaired it.

a friend of mine bought a new off the lot truck that the pass side door paint didn't match correctly(he didn't notice that when he bought it, this happened a week or so later)....now he's wanting to trade the truck and dealers are giving him low offers due to the repair that was done by the dealer.

at this point i would just wait to see what the 18's will have, if its something significant (looks like it may be) then i'd jump on it. if nothing significant then you can get a 2017 at a cheaper price.
