If I wanted to change the sound of the exhaust to be DEEPER what would I do? Anyone tried this yet? I love the output but its a little sharper/higher tone than I would want.

Yes seems the 2010 ones produce the same sound except they have longer tips so they stick out more. Also I think the muffler to tip is angled a little, the 2011-12 tip comes straight out.So from what I gather, the 2010 GT500 mufflers produce the same results? Just want to doublecheck before I pull the trigger on some this weekend. Now I just have to figure out whether to go H or X pipe.
Nice cars guys, thanks for sharing.
Switch to an H-pipe, I see you had an X put in. I have an H-pipe and sounds great. Clean, deep, and throaty. OOh that sounded a little sensual didn't it? :lol:If I wanted to change the sound of the exhaust to be DEEPER what would I do? Anyone tried this yet? So the "H" pipe would lower the note? Kool. I was going to put the stock muffs back on to see what they sounded like. I loved the way they sounded just not enough volume but dont want to leave the X-pipe in place if it wont change the note. It does sound good just would prefer it to be deeper.Yes seems the 2010 ones produce the same sound except they have longer tips so they stick out more. You probably won't like the stockers with the X-pipe. A little more volume, and rumble, but gets raspy, higher pitched, and tinny. The GT500's with your X-pipe would be better IMO.So the "H" pipe would lower the note? Kool. I was going to put the stock muffs back on to see what they sounded like. Thx for the feedback. I will get them to fab me an H pipe and see what the difference is and advise. Looking forward to hearing the difference..You probably won't like the stockers with the X-pipe. Cant take the credit for the video. I just found it.. lol. it is using the stock mufflers in lieu of the GT500 muffs. The GT500's have a much lower tone than in the video and dont break up with the rasp at high RPM's like the OEM GT muffs are in this video. The magic of the OEM mufflers is when mated with the stock resonator/H-pipe. they do sound good and deep. Just not enough.Great comparison video, thanks for putting that together!
AWESOME! Congrats. I love mine and yes they protrude a little but with the lower spoiler on the GT its only noticeable by us. Post some pics (side/rear/ close up under) views. Try it out for a few days before they hack and make the alignment worse and or create elbows to restrict flow. Mine are as far back as possible and yes they look and sound AMAZING! So happy with the result.Just had the H Pipe, GT500 (2010) combo done up and it sounds glorious. Did my first cold start at 6 am this morning and I'm pretty sure the neighbors are not going to be amused for long.
One thing I am not crazy about is the fitment, tips stick out way too much. I think the 2010 tips are longer. I'll take it back to the shop and see if there's anything they can do about it. Any and all suggestions welcome.
If you search "GT500" on this forum you will find several that have used just the GT500 muffs with stock H pipe. It is louder but not much. Definitely more volume and you can always cut the stock H-pipe later. It's a great upgrade.Anyone have the GT500 mufflers with the factory resonator? How much louder is it than stock?
