I have a dash cam that is powered via its USB port. I also have a mirror-power tap wire kit with bare wire leads. Does any one know if there is an adapter that can be hooked to +/- bare wires and the other end is a USB feed plug?

There are a few different options out there. The biggest thing would be getting the correct voltage, USB is 5V the mirror is 12V. You need to find out what voltage your Cam requires. If it's not 12V then you would also require a power supply in line with the tap.

Tapping into the mirror is ok for things like radar detectors, which use a 12v input. However, most dash came use 5v, which is why the cable is a miniusb. You should just buy a hard-wire kit online for $5, run the wire under the liner and a-pillar and tap into the fuse box on the passenger-side right kick panel. Let me know if you need help. I've hard wired both my radar detector and dash cam to my 15 vert. Super easy and very clean. Cheers.

I need to wire a dashcam and escort radar detector. Which fuse did tap it too? Any images? Thanks!

how much power is safe to pull from the mirror power? I have a radar and dash cam... can I pull power to both from the mirror? guessing it would be ok as the camera and radar don't pull much power at all but just want to be safe (if i was near the car i'd look at the fuse (if there is one)

then run that to a usb 5v converter?
Sorry I was actually responding to the OP but just realized his post is over a year old.

That pic you posted should work fine as long as it converts to 5 volts out. It only says "12 v in" but nothing on the output.

The other thing you'd need is those mirror taps as you won't get the end of the wires on the pic inserted into the back of the mirror.
