Just finished Brandon's DIY fix to the increased NVH that some of us have experienced with the Tri-Ax.

While the NVH had quieted down quite a bit since the original install, I wanted to reduce it even more. The fix took me about an hour using extra Dynamat and the thin lead pieces that Brandon recommends. I basically laid the four lead pieces around the shifter base and then laid down another layer of Dynamat on top of everything, including the lead pieces.

I think it's now as quiet, or even quieter, than the original shifter.

Thanks, Brandon. And thanks Steeda for much improved shifting.

Imgur and M6G for some reason don't play well with each other. I created an imgur album of the photos; they should be self-explanatory.

You may have to copy and paste that in a new tab/window, as I think direct clicks from here will block it.

Let me know if anything needs explanation. I'll be out of the country for a couple weeks with spotty Internet access but I'll help when and how I can!

Glad I stumbled across this thread. Definitely going to be doing this as soon as I get the extra materials delivered.

If anyone is curious, you can order small sized sheets of lead in various thicknesses from McMaster-Carr. Snagged a 6"x6" 1/16" sheet for $11.
