Broken fog light surround

I'm guessing it got hit by a stone. Plastic is pretty cheap and brittle but I'd hazard a guess that it's expensive, hard to get and difficult to replace.

You would think forward-facing plastics would be able to withstand stones...
Would probably have worked out cheaper and easier if it had taken out the light itself, though hopefully that part can be removed through the wheel well.

My surround is OK, it is tne glass that has broken on mine. If they sell you the "whole thing" let me know and I will buy tne light from you - unless it is all one piece!

I'm convinced it happened when I passed a gritting lorry going in the opposite direction. It sounded like I had been hit by a burst of automatic fire.

Only thing I can think of that could be traveling fast at such a low height. You can see the orangey mark where another piece hit.

Seeing as the surround can be bought separately for around $70 in the US, I'm guessing £80 by the time it gets here plus a few hours for the bumper removal, this could easily be a £300 cost.

So I'm just gonna get some gaffer tape, although I have pinged a complaint to the local council. Obviously nothing will come of that.

I'm through to their claims team now (Gallagher Bassett their insurance), which according to google, is a good sign as this usually means they'll approve it... but we'll see - aint holding my breath but i'll have all guns blazing for the fuckers if I don't get my money back.

Also ask them if they conform to the road standards procedure as certain pot holes have to be fixed immediately if reported etc.

They kept saying no in the end I laid out the trail of what they said they should have done and then what they had actually done. See you in court i suggested and the cheque arrived a week later. They will only give in right at the end hoping people will give up!!

Good man, yeah I've got that all planned out to be ran through read a load of interwebs stuff about it; I'll court claim it, I've got no issues going legal about things, just ask ford! :lol:.

They've told me '90 days' from 30th sept to 'Establish the claim'. If they claim it was fixed, it will be a case of back to Council for a 'Okay so when was the road last fixed, when was it last fixed before that, etc' if they lie, that's fraud, and ggwp i'll hit them on a far bigger issue than £1k for 2 wheels and tyres.
