TouchUPDirect has some great paint that will match factory colors.

I don't know how to post pics to the thread yet! But you can see them on my profile.

so the strut bar has to come off or did you all squeeze that top cover out with it on? I assume it's not a good idea to drive around with the bar off? Thanks.

You can drive with the bar off. Not all models come with it, but yes you can take the engine cover off without removing the strut bar.

my spray painting skills suck! :)

had some runs and pools with the primer. painting it on to heavy i think. a little wet sand took care of that. just put on the main black on the coil covers and both have some runs. way to heavy on the first coat.

can i just do two more then hand wet sand those areas? or let the first totally dry lightly sand it down tomorrow and finish up with 2 coats?

I simply used an eye dropper and Testors model paint to fill the letters. First round, just enough for a base. Once it dried, dropped in more for a solid color fill.

Well THATS a brilliant idea...wish I had thought of that. But really taping and cutting out was not all that hard just took a bit of time.

smart! i just ordered the decals from anchor room. i lost my patience with the painting of the coils and cover. started to tape off the letters and just wanted to go for a drive cause the weather was amazing this weekend. :)

VHT High Temp Engine Spray Paint. Can be found at all Auto stores.

Pretty much what one needs to know is here;

I followed all of the prep and painting steps for the most part in the video. Just skipping the letters for now. I did not do any final wet sanding and buffing either. That is how you get the super smooth shine and finish.

Under the hood they should look good as is.
