Headlights/Auto Off Question

I swear I have searched everywhere for this on the forums and google and couldn't find anything. But here is my question: On my 2014 Focus ST I was one of those weird people who liked to always have my headlights/fogs always turned on at all times, and when I would turn the car off and open my door they would turn off immediately. So far, I have not been able to find a setting like that on my 2016 GT.

Any setting I have it on when I shut off the engine and open the door the car just dings at me and all the lights stay on after I close the door and lock the car. Is there any way to set it so the lights turn off when the door opens? Besides turning the light knob to off haha (lazy I know). I apologize if there is already threads about this!

Turn the knob all the way to the right to turn on auto lights. If you are talking about the light shutoff delay when you turn off the car, that is located in the driver menu under vehicle I believe under lighting. Set the lamp delay to 0 if you want them to shut off immediately.

Do your fog lights not come on when you release the parking brake/shift out of park? These are the only DRL's I know of on the Mustang. I don't believe there is a way to use headlights as DRL unless someone has figured out how to with ForScan. And unless you had a Canadian ST, I don't think your headlights on the ST were used as DRL's either. Source, I had a 2013 ST.

Sorry you are right about the DRLs, my main thing is I want all my lights on during the daytime, not just the DRLs, my bad!

Hmm, mine would yell at me if I did that and make me turn them off.

I'm starting to think maybe it was something weird with my model, but it was just a 2014 ST3. Whenever I would take it in for service they would turn it to the auto or off position and I would have to tinker with it to make it work again

I loved it though and wish the Mustang would do it haha

I think there is a delay in the menu that dictates how long the lights stay on in auto mode after you turn the car off however if you are in on mode, this delay does not work. However, the car will cut power off after certain time.
Another way is to maybe cover up the light sensor on top of the dash so the car thinks its at night all the time?

You are correct, the delay doesn't work when it is switched to on. And it is just a personal preference, I liked it on my ST and was curious if the Mustang had something similar

The problem with this is that it is going to dim the gauges and radio and would likely make it difficult to read them during the day. You can manually override the dimming on the radio display (if you have the 8 inch touch screen), but he already said he was lazy and that is going to be more work that turning the headlight knob.

I had a 2013 ST and if I tried to get out of the car with my lights set in the On position it would ding at me and they didn't shut off on their own.

Perhaps your car was accidentally programmed with Euro programming. I think it is more common for lights to behave as you describe over there. That said, if the Mustang lights act that way on the Euro spec models there may be a way to reprogram yours to do the same. Any of our Euro members seeing this??

My 2014 ST did the same thing. My mustang does not. You may be able to change the As-Built information. But that will be a new adventure for you

Are you sure about that? I once accidentally hit the switch and bumped the selector from Auto to On and left for several hours and returned to find my lights still on. The car started up just fine, but the headlights were definitely on for some hours.
