I'm sure a few of you are aware that I am having excessive oil usage with my GT350/Voodoo engine.
I took it in about a month ago and did a leakdown test and it came back that I was using about a quart every 800-900 miles. I was told that I needed a new engine and it would be a lengthy process. I basically said I was aware of that and had some concerns about a few things so my dealer (who has been great) through all of this directed me to open a case with Ford Customer Service, which I did.
Fast forward a month or so and I get a call last Friday from my dealer. They tell me that Ford is not going to replace the engine because they think the new one will do the exact same thing. They also say that they "may have a fix for it next spring." With no timetable as to when "spring" was by their definition. They also admit that they do not know where the oil is going or why it is using so much. Also, that they are aware that this is a widespread issue with the Voodoo apparently.
Today, I talked to my regional rep. It was very cordial, but all she could offer me was an extended maintenance plan for oil changes etc. I told her it doesn't need oil changes as I just have to add oil and I already have the same plan through my dealer. I asked if that was all she could do for me and said yes. She asked what I wanted and I said I wanted them to buy the car back since it is obvious they have no idea how to fix it and are not in a hurry to do so. She basically said that that was out of the question.
So, the biggest thing I am frustrated with is that they know it is a problem and have no idea/no timetable on when they will come up with a fix. I am extremely disappointed that I have to check the oil every 200 miles because I don't trust that it won't run out sooner. I also believe this could be a safety issue.
After also having a leak fixed because there was a hole in the weather stripping from the factory.......I don't have a lot of confidence with Ford or this car. Which, really sucks because it is the most exciting/fun car I've ever owned up to this point. Ford, you guys are so close to getting all together, but can't quite get over the hump with QC and CS.
At this point I am going to contact a lemon law lawyer for the first time in my life and see where that goes. I let my Ford rep know this and she was unphased by it. I don't mean it as a threat, but their treament of this problem is completely unacceptable to me.
If anybody has advice or would like to add their experiences with this issue have at it.
Thanks,
