I swapped 3.15 to 3.55, the whole housing. Love the daily drive and dropped .2 in the 1/4 mile. I was already shifting into 4th because 26" tires which were faster then 28" to begin with. Ran 11.4 first night with new gears. Found another guy to do an even swap so just paid for install. My speedo was also spot on so I didn't need any other adjustments.
You ran faster but in better weather which you admitted below but failed to post that information here.

That's what I heard, at least buying the whole housing guarantee's me everything is lined up inside correctly, since as EJS2016 said, it's a job best done by someone who's done it many times before. So is the general consensus that I won't see much difference going from 3:15 to 3:55 on an auto? Money better spent on a Tune and PMAS CAI?
How about e-bay? There's lots of bad S550 drivers out there who have graciously donated engines, transmissions, diff assemblies, entire IRS assemblies for 1/2 the price of new.

I bought a used (10k miles) GT 3.73 Torsen rear end to swap into my 2016 Ecoboost Manual. It's not even a factory option (yet they let you buy the ring and pinion and torsen separately to put in the diff housing as Ford Performance aftermarket upgrade...?).

I wanted to avoid having to deal with a case spreader to get the thing out and find the proprietary socket for the housing bolts etc. That an I got it for $650...torsen alone in my opinion was worth the upgrade, but the 3.73 really shines on a manual.

Doesn't the auto PP rear come with a Torsen? None of the lower tier S550's (Ecoboost and V6) can get a Torsen as a factory option (maybe a custom order if you pay out the ear for it). I know all GT Manual PP comes with 3.73 Torsen, I would think GT Auto PP would come with a 3.55 Torsen or is that ONLY the GT Manual PP?

BTW, the Ecoboost manual and GT Auto use the same pinion flange, the GT Manual uses a DIFFERENT pinion flange, so you will need to swap them. Pinion flange nut is a one time use as you stake the end (with a punch and hammer).

How hard is it to swap the pinion flange?

Put a 100 of Nitrous on it and you won't need to swap the gears. This still leaves you with great highway gears. Nitrous Express has great kit they call the proton which is jeytable from 35 to 250 HP.
