Also the rear end looks like it doesnt have the same style line/indent by the license plate like our current s550's do.

Exactly where I spent my money last month. I bought a '16 Challenger Scat Pack. 485 hp and 475 tq 6.4L Hemi and 8 speed auto. I still own my '14 Mustang GT, as well, and plan to keep it forever. Sure, the Challenger weighs 500 lbs more than my Mustang, but it still runs mid 12's in the 1/4 mile and has a top speed of 182 per Dodge. Plus, the biggest reason I bought it is that it's a big comfortable coupe with RWD and a V8.

I just haven't warmed up to the S550 front end design (although the interior and rear of the car look great). Maybe the '18 refresh or the S650 will win me over. Come on Ford; you lost me for several years. You want to earn my business again? Give the next Mustang a musclecar look! It should not look like a sports car!
A nice car, I'm sure but they just look so bloated...no offense, just MO. If you are getting an automatic, to me the Charger looks so badass and four usable doors is a huge advantage. That's what I cross-shopped the most when buying my '16 GT but in the end, just love the 'Stang.

I just read it in the comment section at MT's website. Is it legit? I don't think so, but let's hope he's right.
I can believe the quad exhaust, horsepower bump and LED headlights. I assume "new transmissions" is just the 10spd, if they decided to put TR-6060's in the GT's I'm going to be pissed .

Seeing your prior owned cars I'd expect someone like you to understand what a "company wide design language" is. Considering you had a fox body which looked like an escort, and a thunderbird that looked like a taurus.
Oh, I understand design language. Did you know that I've worked at a Ford dealership for the past 17 years. I bleed Ford blue. I even have a Mustang tattoo (a little overshare, my apologies). The first car I ever owned was a Mustang. I've owned more Mustangs than anything else. I always want to like the latest and greatest Mustang, but the S550 just doesn't work for me.

It sounds to me like you're more pissed that Ford ditched the retro look, which is why you bought a Challenger. Congrats on your new 2008 MY car with recycled suspension from early 2000's Mercedes Benz's?
While I have owned 3 different S197's, the one that was the most retro looking (my '07 GT) is the one that I liked the least. My 2011 and 2014 GT's looked less retro and I liked them better. Also, I really like the looks of Fox Body Mustangs (and T-Birds). I've owned 5 of them total, none of which was "retro" styled. I bought the Challenger because I wanted a big comfortable V8 RWD coupe and Ford doesn't offer one. A modern day Ford Torino would be awesome. The Aussie Falcon FPV would be interesting here. But, Ford does not offer a car like this and the S550 Mustang styling just doesn't do it for me.

Also, if we're going to speak on terms of robustness. Yes, the stock half shafts breaking on manual trans cars with drag radials is annoying. On the other side of the coin, Coyote engines seem to hold up great to boost. I've read plenty of stories of 6.4 Hemi's blowing up with low boost because the rings can't take the pressure.
I don't plan on boosting my Scat Pack. No racing planned for it, nor any mods. I bought it as a daily driver. I kept my '14 Mustang for track duty.

ITT: No car is perfect, buy what you want. Clearly the sales numbers are working in Ford's favor so they did something right. The Challenger slipping past the Camaro just says GM overpriced the car.
Ford did very well with the S550, agreed. It has brought many new customers to Ford. Heck, it's the 4th best selling Ford at the dealership I work for and we were #2 in Mustang sales volume in our entire state last year, so it certainly helps me pay my mortgage, so for that I'm grateful.

If the Mustang looked like a Fusion, I could see you had a point....

It's no secret there was a refresh coming in 2018. thePill beat that drum for years... The Mustang is evolving into a Sports Car...
I think the current Fusion front end looks much better than the current Mustang. It just flows better, while the Mustang just looks awkward. The Evos concept looked pretty damn cool; too bad the Fusion nailed it better than Mustang did. The GT350, however, looks pretty damn good up front. The 2018 refresh would be much improved if it looks more like the GT350.

I like Musclecars, not Sports Cars. If the Mustang is evolving into a Sports Car, then Ford better bring a MuscleCar into the fold to keep my interest. Big V8, RWD, affordable and robust enough for repeated dragstrip duty. Simple recipe.

"That Challenger is consistently gaining ground on such an old platform speaks volumes about the big muscular V8 coupe niche that everyone is ignoring except Dodge "...

I suspect that the vast majority of Challengers being sold are SXT V-6's. That's about all I see on the dealer lots and all I see on the roads. I bet 10-1 V-6 to V-8. I think Mustangs sell a higher percentage of V-8's.
Maybe so. Consider, though, that Mustang & Camaro are smaller cars ("pony cars"), while the Challenger is a bigger car ("musclecar"). That's what I was getting at. Everyone likes to compare these three cars, but the Challenger isn't really an apple-to-apples comparison.

What about this looks unfinished?

The front corners are just too busy with the fog & marker lights crammed in together. The rear edges of the headlights should be canted forward, IMO. The heat extractors on the hood are goofy looking. And, while many people seem to like them, I don't like the raised character lines on the hood. The GT350 is a huge improvement on all counts, IMO. YMMV.

funny, i always thougt, that the outward going fangs on the gt350 look kind of crooked. Everybody else seems to love them though, so im sure my eye is just wrong. I love both the dome and the heat extractors on my GT. However, i will agree with you on the rear edges of the headlight.

This statement by csneed623 was at the comment section of Motor Trend's article about the 2018 Mustang.

"Saw the actual redesign in Vegas last month in a secret ford dealer meeting and it looks sweet. Horse power bump on all motors, quad pipes standard on GT with V8, LED headlights now instead of HID to match LED fog light, whole new wheel line up and more. Going to be sweet. Comes out next summer. Front and rear will be new. Mid cycle refresh with new transmissions also. They did not confirm which transmissions though"

Interesting for sure if it's true.
I think it would be awesome if csneed623 is correct. Also I am interested in if the 10 speed makes it to the mid cycle refresh.

As for the power bump across the board, I am curious how they did it especially with the Ecoboost, I am wondering if Ford finally went with both port and direct injection like the new Raptor has because port injection has its benefits and there are a lot of people concerned about carbon buildup with the DI system. A dual injection system would really help me consider on getting an Ecoboost.

Disagree on all points. I love just about everything you seem to hate so much about this car you sell. Maybe you shouldn't work at a Ford dealership.

I've always been a tad confused when people say things like "the GT350 is a huge improvement" when comparing it to the lower trim Mustangs. Of course it is. It's a $60k+ track monster designed to look as mean and sexy as it sounds and drives. ALL other 6th gen Mustangs are lesser versions of it. If the GT350 didn't get the special treatment with its own unique look, and instead GT's were clones of it, I'd think that very odd. Is that a GT or a Shelby? Well I'm not sure, they look the same.

You guys are wishing for a GT350 in a $32k package. I for one like the way the current GT looks and do not want a GT350 clone with a lesser engine.

I wonder if the engineers have been told the make the headlight gills compliant to all worldwide markets, hence the change.

Looks like it has gt350 style front bumper
Yeah, I think so too. Take a look at my rendering at page 14, I think it could be kind of close to what changes we can guess according the mule atm.

I wonder if the engineers have been told the make the headlight gills compliant to all worldwide markets, hence the change.
The Tribars are still in nearly the same position so I doubt they would be legal as DRL in europe now. Some pictures kind of look like angel eye lights on the HID, so maybe they will use that for export markets. But in the end we don't really know the reason the current tribars didn't make it to the export model.
