This.I think Camaro killed themselves on price. People were willing to put up with the visibility and trunk when it was cheaper, but now with less space AND higher cost they pushed out people who might have considered them. They should have updated the styling too.
Cars that typically more popular new are worth more used. Since you lease, it doesn't matter.I'm sorry, but these sales discussions really make me laugh. Who cares which car is selling better than the other? Were unit sales numbers a factor when you were in the market for a new car?
I agree the blind spot in my challenger sucks, solution back into parking spots lol.Having owned a 2014 camaro, wife currently owns a 2015 challenger I can say blind spots are not helping those two sales. The visibility in the mustang is light years better. Also I think the camaro SS needs a cheaper starting price.
The Mustang has far more in common with the Fusion than you think. Ya, I said the same thing, one is front drive the other is rear, but trust me, they have a great deal in common, hence they are built in the same plant.I might be totally alone in this argument but I feel the Camaro has no soul. It's not a camaro, it's a Cadillac chassis with a corvette engine with some (awful) Camara sheat metal.
Then you have the Mustang gt and it feels so special to me. The special built 5.0 engine that is full of history and I'd plenty capable. Hell the Mustang even has a purpose built chassis.
Idk I guess it might not matter but I'd rather drive a purpose built car instead one that'says frakenstiened from other great cars
I bought my car due to sales in I didn't really care much about performance when I downgraded to this segment. If I were looking for performance I would have stayed In my C6 and traded for a C7 possibly. The Mustang was just an easier to live with performance car and increased sales only helps that.I'm sorry, but these sales discussions really make me laugh. Who cares which car is selling better than the other? Were unit sales numbers a factor when you were in the market for a new car? They weren't for me, the performance numbers were. Would it be good for Mustang Guy if GM killed off the Camaro again? I doubt it.
While I'm perfectly happy with my 15 GT I have no brand loyalty and I am considering a 17 SS. The performance is incredible, the light weight platform is impressive, and I'm not trying to (ridiculously) haul a family of four around in a sports car. If the 18 GT refresh is still getting its ass handed to it I will be jumping ship for a better performing performance car. If the refresh leap frogs the SS, then Ford would earn my money again.
The funny thing with the sticker price argument is I can lease a $42k SS for less than my $32k base GT and the SS leases aren't that great right now.
I'm sure that's plenty true and I don't doubt you at all. Especially when it comes to the interior materials and everything. But the main components of the Mustang (except transmission sometimes) are unique to itThe Mustang has far more in common with the Fusion than you think. Ya, I said the same thing, one is front drive the other is rear, but trust me, they have a great deal in common, hence they are built in the same plant.
One of our engineers use to go to that plant weekly.
I have one of each and like them both. Ford guys don't get why I have a Chevy and Chevy guys don't get why I have a Ford. My C6 is getting old, but I will most likely never sell it or the Mustang. Just bought a car condo so I have a place to keep them. I like to buy them new and keep them, but you can't always do that.I bought my car due to sales in I didn't really care much about performance when I downgraded to this segment. For 42k I'll skip the rear seats, the extra 500lbs, and take my chances with dropping a valve and buy a C6 Z06 or Zr1. :tsk::tsk::tsk::tsk:
Yeah but to be honest you have the best products both companies offer. I'd love a corvette, would take one in a heart beat. But I'm never giving up my Mustang. I'm not biased against Chevy just the Camaro and that's purely because of its styling. And for rivalry sake hahaI have one of each and like them both. Mid 50's pickup is next. Can't decide on a Ford or a Chevy........
No worries I completely understand why you have them both... I plan to get another vette and I'll have both a stang and vette in my drivewayI have one of each and like them both. Now the Camaro Is Getting Trounced by the Mustang and Beaten by Challenger, Too

U.S. sales of America’s three pony-muscle car coupes slid 2 percent in July 2016 despite meaningful gains from both the Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger.
Blame?

Cast it all in the direction of the Chevrolet Camaro, sales of which plunged 26 percent, a loss of nearly 2,000 sales for Chevrolet dealers compared with July 2015.
Camaro sales declined in 7 of the last 12 months, diving by 9,517 units during a span of three consecutive year-over-year decreases between May and July. After the Camaro outsold the Ford Mustang in five consecutive years, it now appears certain that 2016 will be the second consecutive year in which the Mustang easily outsells the Chevrolet Camaro.
One might even say the Mustang is going to win, “by a lot.”
