Now the Camaro Is Getting Trounced by the Mustang and Beaten by Challenger, Too

http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/20...rounced-ford-mustang-beaten-dodge-challenger/

U.S. sales of America’s three pony-muscle car coupes slid 2 percent in July 2016 despite meaningful gains from both the Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger.

Blame?
Cast it all in the direction of the Chevrolet Camaro, sales of which plunged 26 percent, a loss of nearly 2,000 sales for Chevrolet dealers compared with July 2015.
Camaro sales declined in 7 of the last 12 months, diving by 9,517 units during a span of three consecutive year-over-year decreases between May and July. After the Camaro outsold the Ford Mustang in five consecutive years, it now appears certain that 2016 will be the second consecutive year in which the Mustang easily outsells the Chevrolet Camaro.
One might even say the Mustang is going to win, “by a lot.”

Having owned a 2014 camaro, wife currently owns a 2015 challenger I can say blind spots are not helping those two sales. The visibility in the mustang is light years better. Also I think the camaro SS needs a cheaper starting price.

I sat in the Camaro and never bothered to drive it. Then I rented one, and the visibility is terrible.

I think Camaro killed themselves on price. People were willing to put up with the visibility and trunk when it was cheaper, but now with less space AND higher cost they pushed out people who might have considered them. They should have updated the styling too.

This is the first gen of camaro that I've actually like the looks of on the exterior. The interior is just bad, and like thousands of others have noticed, you can't see anything out the windows.

Looks decent enough with awesome powertrain/suspension, ruined by price and visibility for me.

The looks alone of the Camaro's interior kept me from even wanting to sit in it to see how bad the visibility is.

I rented one in Florida (v6) and it was fun to drive but the visibility/blind spots were ridiculous and I wasn't a big fan of how low the seats placed me to the ground for get-in/get-out, etc.
That and the high-price killed any thoughts I had of purchasing one.

Its fine, the Camaro6 guys say they like having the "rare" car.

Which is a complete 180 if we go back 6 years to when the 5th gen camaro outsold the S197, but the coyote > LS3/L99.

I didn't know camaro ownership was such an exclusive club these days... Surely the 03-09 is the most exclusive group to be in.

chevy is making the same mistake they did with the SS. They are pricing it out of its own market.

yes vehicles have gotten more expensive with inflation and what not, but it's still seen as a camaro, not a bmw.

however, in MT's head to head they put a camaro SS against a BMW that was double the price and the performance and features of the camaro exceeded the beemer.

They need to lower the entry price by about 5k and it'll sell.

I would say more the pricing is terrible compared to the Mustang hurt there sales so much.

I originally wanted a 1SS Camaro instead ordered a Base GT. It was a huge price difference!!! And I know the Challenger isn't far off in price from the Camaro either. Driven a 2010 R/T Auto, the 5.7L did not impress me much performance wise. Haven't tried an SRT8 model yet.

Sure the Camaro has more standard features but I don't care. I didnt buy this car for fancy options.

The Camaro performs better, but that is all it has going for it. Overall and by far, the Mustang is the better car. Yes, everyone gets inundated with the numbers on paper, but if that is all driving a car was about then there would be no point.
