Carplay is only through the USB port. Apple has not come out with a Bluetooth version yet, if they ever will.

BTW, I never see that SYNC message, Carplay just launches for me once I plug my iPhone in.

Bluetooth is only via Android. Apple being Apple means you need to use via a USB port

I went to see mine today before pdi. I can confirm car play. No change to Hand brake and cup holders, but I was so excited I forgot to point that out to the dealer.
Also there is a strange dome on the roof which hasn't been mentioned yet. It's towards the back like the bmw fin style antenna so I suspect sync3 has necessitated a change to a less integrated antenna which sadly looks like an out of place afterthought.

Didn't realise apple's car play was only USB! Oh cables, how i've missed you... Nevermind, I have Android, and Sync 2 ;)!

I thought the dome was the Sirius antenna? Not that we get satellite radio.

What I haven't tried yet is the USB port inside the center console storage compartment will also launch Carplay. It should. That way everything is out sight. Then you would still have to remember to retrieve your phone upon leaving the vehicle.

Off topic alert - I missed the NY USA signature and was amazed to see a car ordered and delivered in 11 weeks, makes a change from the uk forums where signature strips are more akin to geological eras than months. if I recall my initial order was sometime during the Jurassic era.
