Does anyone know exactly when Flat Rock is closed over the summer? Just trying to find out for someone that's due to have their car built this month.

Almost always over fourth of July week unless a new model launch necessitates it to be later.

So, in theory the plant is back up and running again now? I'm guessing it could be down for up to 3 weeks if/when they're replacing heavy machinery, such as presses when there's a new model due?

It's up and running, they are building my car on Monday

It's running as my blend date was 7/14/2016. They did shutdown 4th of July week. Not sure if they have another planned this summer or not.

I know on the SUV side at Flint Rock they cut their two week period down to one due to demand.

However, I'm going to be in Detroit 7/24-7/26 and could not get a tour because they are adding in the new Lincoln Continentals to the production line.

I asked for a tour from Fordservice on here and they said FRAP doesn't do any.

Is there a way to actually get one? I live ~2hrs away and would definitely go to see it.

I grew up around the corner from the Flat Rock plant and did a M.E. job shadowing program a few days a semester junior year in high school...behind the scenes tour.

Awesome. Just bought my wife a 2016 Explorer. I must say I am pleased with the quality.

They could almost afford to shut down every other week to go back and make sure the cars they built the previous week weren't half assed during assembly :lol:
