2017 Roush Supercharger Tune Not Available

I tried for 2 weeks to get a hold of them...their customer service is horrible. I paid for this tune and they have not mentioned if they are going to do a free tune for us that already have the phase 2 or not? :shrug:

I took notice in the forums that several people have ordered 2017 GTs with dealer installed Roush superchargers.

I also ordered a 2017 and it arrived to the dealer on 6/28. They installed the phase 2 727hp kit on my car as part of the vehicle financing. I got a call 7/1 from the dealer telling me the car was done, but the 2017 tune from Roush isn't available yet. Apparently Ford changes the encryption codes every model year for the ECUs and hasn't released those codes to Roush yet. So basically the car is a huge paper weight as it can't be started without the tune.

I called Roush and was advised they did not have an ETA of when the tune will become available. I reached out to a few other members on the forum to see if they heard otherwise. DisneyFun1 reported a similar issue last year. He had ordered a 2016 with Roush supercharger when the kits were already out for the 2015 models. He said he had to wait nearly 6 months after getting his 2016 for Ford to release the new encryption codes so that Roush could make the tune work from 2015 models to the 2016 models.

I have calls into a few dealerships that offer these dealer installed 727 Roush charged 2017 Mustang GTs , such as Alabama Ford and Lebanon Ford, but am awaiting an answer. I also called Ford corporate and have a case number assigned to me.

Just thought I would reach out to everyone and give them a heads up. Maybe if enough of us contact Ford, we can get the ball rolling sooner

Have them give your money back and we'll send you a kit, as we already have 2017 available. More power, better tune, more exclusive features and available.

So I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I was just informed directly from Ford today that EPA and CARB certification for the 2.3 TVS Roush supercharger for 2017 model years is not expected to be available until December of this year. Every year they follow a 6 month lag time, and this year will be no different. Although tuners may be able to load a tune for the 2.3 TVS, it will not be EPA or CARB compliant on any 2017 Mustang. Until these certifications are met, Roush will not be offering the tunes, either phase 1 or 2, for 2017 models.

Roush currently is not selling phase 2 kits as they are reworking their tune for increased throttle response, power, and drive ability. The new tune will be available for 2015 and 2016 model years in the near future.

So even if you can get someone to tune a 2.3 TVS supercharger for a 2017, it will not be legal for road use. :doh:

Waiting to hear from Lebanon Ford on this... I asked earlier yesterday and got a response today that said basically they didn't know anything about it except Roush was going to revise the 727 tune and that it would be available next week... But when I asked about our 17 cars I was told they have not heard anything about there being a problem... And that they have several 17"s that are getting the 670 treatment as of now but not the 727... They are supposed to let me know something soon...

If we did get someone else to tune the car would it pass inspection when hooked to OBD2?

I'm not sure how that works. I'm in PA and I believe we just have them check emissions from our gas cap. Nonetheless , if testing ever changes I wouldn't want to get caught high and dry.

It seems like everyone has a "shop they know" that will pass just about any car. There are plenty of people around my area who leave their test pipes on all year round and still manage to get the "slap and stick" pass.

From my conversation with Roush technical support, they made it sound like the 2017 ECUs were untunable as Ford has them encrypted. I may have misunderstood, but that brings up another question. Has anyone seen any tuners advertising for servicing 2017 models.

They can be flashed, files have to be converted.
