I had h-pipe with stock mufflers before the catback so I felt both stages of exhaust upgrades and they do make a difference!

So I bought 4V Mayhem's Airaid MIT, got it today, and installed it in like 10 mins (that's a big deal to me fellows). Good initial impression. Nothing mind blowing but definitely a worthy purchase. I had already deleted the sound tube from the stock intake tube so I didn't really notice any change in cabin sound and with the already installed H pipe, I didn't notice a difference in exhaust note either. With all that said and just a quick WOT up and back down the street, I am pretty happy with the purchase.
I'm curious to see if yours makes a change after a day of driving it like mine did, lol!! Keep us posted!!

I know my tube made a difference! I also think that the borla touring catback that I just installed makes my car feel faster as well even though people say it doesn't add any HP. Feels like the air really flow better and engine can really roar! IMO

I, too, noticed an increase in power when I installed my H pipe. I kept telling myself ...No, I'm imagining it/wishful thinking ... but the car definitely had noticeable more pull to it. And I'm using the stock mufflers. I'm sure the Airaid MIT is an improvement over stock....just needs some more playtime.
Someone once explained to me that testing with a dyno doesn't always show positive gains. It was explained to me that a dyno can only measure at WOT. However some changes that are done might not be enough to make an impact at WOT, but it could make a difference at partial throttle which a dyno cannot read. So a lot of times, people make changes and feel like their car is faster because they are driving at partial throttle. But the dyno then shows no change at all. Which is why a butt dyno can read things a real dyno can't. If that makes any sense. Plus, a lot of these mods increase flow thru the engine which increases throttle response. Increased TR can make a car accelerate much faster but it won't show on a dyno. Kinda like how a sprint booster works. But these guys get it stuck in their head that hp increase is the end all say all. But a car with better throttle response and less hp can beat and feel much more powerful than a car that has horrible throttle response but much more power especially in the lower RPMs or in cornering or city driving. These little changes all together affect performance. It isn't all about which mod makes 20 more hp all the time.

Exactly. I'd never buy a MIT and expect more horespower. But if it improves throttle response then maybe its worth it.

I recently purchased a Airaid MIT and AFE Dry Drop in Filter from a fellow forum member. Just installed today.

Throttle response is much better! Definitely a worthwhile mod for those of us not wanting a tune.

Also, I like using the stock airbox and the ease of putting it back to stock, when I decide to sell it.

There really is no downside to doing the tube unless you're going to tune your car in the near future with a CAI. It flows much better than the stock tube and you will probably notice a slight bit more improvement over the next couple of days.

No, would need a full CAI with an open filter cone style or open box

Any difference in the intake sound in the cabin?
No I still have the sound tube still hooked up... (Dont really care about unhooking it), I do notice my MBRP Cat back Exhaust sounds deeper...

I would have to say overall, I'm glad I got it, it just seems smoother... IMHO

Ordered the Airaid intake elbow and the AFE dry filter with the Canada Day discount codes at TDOTperformance.com so let's see how this combo performs.

I went the airaid MIT and panel filter route as well but in the end the stock box is just a big restriction.

So was it a waste in your view to just do the MIT and filter?

Not for me it wasn't, it gave the motor better throttle response. My MBRP Axle Back is deeper and smoother with less Rasp at higher RPM's.

For me it exceeded what I thought the combination would do.

Im sure in overall horsepower it prolly doesn't do much.

YMMV...

Yeah I wish I had just spent the extra hundred bucks or so initially and purchased an entire intake system. I loaned that stuff out to a buddy who was dyno testing about 5 different setups. I think the stock airbox makes OK power below about 5k but falls off quickly after that.

Here is a pic of the stock box vs the Airaid box so you can see the difference. Everyone can draw their own conclusions. But I'll take the Airaid box for myself, lol!! With the MIT, high flow filter, and stock box, back when I did it on my GT, I didn't notice any difference that night after swapping it on and driving about 20 miles. But the next day the car seemed much different. Others have said it took bout a day as well. Anyway, I'm interested to see your results. So far, most who have done this upgrade were very pleased with it. It is even better with a complete CAI.

Anyone ever tried the MIT with the stock filter? I'm not a fan of aftermarket filters.
