The Shelby GT350 has specs which are far more exotic than 120k Aston Martins - i'm surprised that you guys are surprised it draws massive crowds.

As for that Biloxi rally - sounds like a bunch of tools - how could they declare the M series BMW as more exotic than the GT350. Douche central. I will never register my Porsche in that cheesy rally.

I think it just boils down to $. Not even going into the ADM argument! But this is a car that Ford built, here in America! It's not some Italian/German, English born car. It's a super car built and designed by Ford, that with the rite ambition everyday Joe can buy!
I guess we all kinda knew the car was going to be special, but it far exceeded and lived up to all the hype!
Also happy Father's Day to all!

The GT350 is a lot more expensive than half the cars that showed up - bunch of used Lotus Evoras and bloated 991 Carreras. Anybody can walk into a dealership and buy those. Good luck buying a GT350. What it really boils down to is ignorance. They must of missed the last 800 articles and awards published over the last 15 months.

Edit - just saw the accepted list - only BMW they would accept is that battery operated i8 lame. Can't even register the Jaguar F type, Mercedes AMG Black Series - and a whole bunch of other great cars.

Still think the Flat-Plane Crank alone puts the GT350 leagues more exotic than Aston Martins entered.

I would venture as far as to say it's more bigotry than ignorance. They know what the 350 is capable of so its not ignorance... They also know it's a Mustang, and thus begins the bigotry.

Question... Just how exotic is your exotic if a domestic, low-volume car can be just as competitive and just as rare?

I like to disassemble things.
Exotic to me means parts and service are ridiculously expensive.

Congrats jwhite,
Very cool day for you. I would have passed by all those other cars as well.

Hey blaze489,
You would have been miserable being at this car show anyway. I hate to be judgemental but probably a lot of pretentious and snobsters there. If you look at this pic you can see some 4 door cars, a couple of GTR's and an orange SUV. Not sure I consider those "exotics". The GT350 would have fit right in. More people hanging around it than the other "exotics". I'm posting a pic of the car show but I'm not sure it will show up.

Car shows are a big dick swinging mineismoreexpensivethanyours president's club with a lifetime president term. Go race instead. At least when you cross the line before someone else, it's a non debatable discussion.

Completely agree - seems many car shows nowadays are douche central. Doesn't matter if I bring the 911, Jag or GT350 always the same kind of snobbery.

The best was my local last month - had a BMW 335i (really nice looking car) with a huge sticker on the back "Snapping Necks and Crushing Egos"

I stuck around for about 3 minutes.

At the track i've found it's mostly true car enthusiasts, and generally see some really amazing stuff and not just parked and pretty!

I doubt most people would consider GTRs, Caymans, etc. to be "exotics". I'm especially confused by the fact that there's what appears to be a bog-standard Elise in there, which, while uncommon, I would not consider remotely exotic.

I don't consider a Carerra an exotic unless it's a Carerra GT. Just my $0.02.

Agreed. These are pure sports cars - GT3 possibly "Quasi-Exotic"

Then you have the GTR, Z06, Z28, GT350, BMW M series, etc and other 100k and under types which can perform as well if not better than cars twice the price - I personally don't consider these exotic but I do consider them "affordable supercars" as Forbes Magazine recently called it.

I know one thing the GT 350 is nothing compared to a Mustang, I have one also a 15 GT/PP.
I guess we need an exotic car definition? I'd think the 350 is and falls into my definition for the 5.2 liter FPC alone, forget the break and suspension.
Soon as I see a Z28 or vet turn 8000 rpm I'll give them exotic status

Many a Camaro have turned 8k RPMs... They just didn't live to tell about it. :ford::cheers:

I'm sure this will get me yelled at again, but... Magneride, while an extremely capable suspension system, is not "exotic". It's standard or optional on every currently available Cadillac (if I remember correctly), the Camaro ZL1, C6 and C7 Corvettes, multiple Audis, etc.

Regarding the engine, the E90/E92 M3's V8 had an 8400 RPM redline, but I doubt anybody would consider those cars as "exotics". I would agree that the Voodoo's flat-plane crank makes it more special than the M3's S65, though.

I think that the classification of something as an "exotic" is independent of numbers, and simply can't really be quantified. I think most people would consider the Lamborghini Miura to be an "exotic", but it can probably be out-accelerated, out-braked, and out-handled by a V6 Toyota Camry.
