I have tried on numerous occasions to use these toys, and every time, they are useless due to wheel hop - I haven't really even done a regular burnout in this car, due to wheel hop...one year of ownership, 22,000 miles, and I haven't found any conditions that allow any of these antics without severe wheel hop...I am running the stock Pirelli tires, which will need replacement within the next month or two, any suggestions on tires that may help, or anything else? I had three different 96 Thunderbirds over the years, all had IRS just like the S550, and never any problems with wheel hop at all...granted, those cars had half the horsepower, half the torque, and we are talking about different platforms, etc.

You might want to look into the aftermarket options available, and start reading the suspension subforums to get a better understanding of your options, and the causes.

With my Steeda springs I had the Steeda subframe (anti wheel hop) bushings installed and it took care of the issue almost completely.

Keep in mind I have a stock ecoboost, so it's less powerful than a GT if that's what you got.

I am sure other manufactures are making these bushings to combat the issue as well, just start looking around.

Which stock Pirelli's do you have? Regular GT 18" wheels and 19" upgrade wheels have the All-Season Nero's. PP GT 19" wheels and non-PP GT Foundry 20" wheels use the same Pzero summer tires. I can only speak for the Pzero summer tires which I had on the 20" Foundry wheels but they gave me quite a bit of hop. I actually just replaced them with Continental Extreme Contact DWS All-Season tires (in 275/35/20) and I feel like there is almost no hop, however, I haven't really pushed them that hard yet. Regardless, there will definitely be a loss in performance with All-Season tires. It's just a compromise I had to make as I DD mine.

I do also have the Steeda IRS braces, as well as the G-Trac brace up front (highly suggest it but it won't have any bearing on wheel hop, obviously). Other than that, Steeda does sell a full "stop the hop" kit. I'm sure David from Steeda can make sure you're getting a great price on those parts.

I did some testing, with this exact scenario recently on one of our PP cars.

Video, Datalogs, the whole 9 yards.

What I found best - in terms of simple mods was:

BMR-CB005 + BMR-BK055

And also tires! We put a set of softer compound tires on the car and it helped about as much, or maybe a little more than the two parts above.

We also put Vertical Links, of various styles, on the car and it helped slightly.

Here is an article we did somewhat recently that shows some datalogs of removing wheel hop. (bottom of article)

Of course, I do not expect everyone to go crazy with Poly and Delrin bushings....as you can typically just use available "bolt-in/on" solutions that I have proven to work as well.

If you have any questions for me, let me know!

I did the Strut Tower Brace, Front G-Trac Brace, and Rear sub frame brace all at the same time. With stock 20" foundry wheels and p-zero tires, I was able to eliminate 85% of my wheel hop.

When I replaces the p-zero tires with good tires, my wheel hop is now 98% gone.

I can dump the clutch (with nannies off) and burn rubber with just a hint of hop, but it sorts itself out quick.
