IF the zl1 and z28 toast the 350R, I'm willing to bet ford makes the 500 that much better on the track. They wont wait 3 years to respond with an upgraded 350, they will do it in this gt500.
That doesnt bother me one bit. Bring it, i welcome it and will get one of those too. I expect something like that to come in the mid to high $70s, loaded. Plus the adms that last for years. It will be a killer ride though.
On a side note, i love NA cars and feel the 350 is a better everyday driver than a 500 will be. It will be interesting to see what the 500 weighs and gearing as that makes a big difference on drivability. An auto option erases alot of BS for a daily driver as well.

Me thinks you smoked a laced stogey before you posted this... The R bests the Z/28. The ZL1 may best both of them, but not by much on the R.

I'm pretty damn sure the new Z/28 will beat the GT350R. There's no way Chevy releases one that's slower than the competition. Would it make me want to trade in my 350? Not a chance in hell.

The R bests the old z28 on the old platform. I'm pretty sure that the new platform z28 and zl1 will both handle the R. There is really no reason it shouldn't. Same weight if not lighter, more power, equal or better brakes. Magnetic ride etc.

More power doesn't always equal faster laps... The package has to work together to beat the amazing packaging of the R. The powerband of the Voodoo will leave Chevy with a complicated predicament... How does Chevy beat the R when more shifting will be required in that 7L small block?

It may be accomplished with a little less weight and a little more power but we shall see.

Im talking about the z28 thats coming soon...not the last one. We all know that the R bests that one. Chevy wont bring z28 that loses to an R.....no way

I will get the 350r regardless, its bad ass. I dont see it being much faster than a few seconds regardless, which is a drivers race.

When the gt500 is announced and it has 750+ hp, it's it going to be gt350 trade worthy? What are some of you thinking?
"Good cars get you daydreaming; great ones force you to reassess priorities." The GT350 is for me the only car in my life that made me reassess my priorities. Mark my words, you will not see another GT350 after this production run for at least another 50 years if at all. This car is truly special, something Ford has never done before and correct me if I am wrong no other American automobile company has mass produced before. I believe as many have said already, this will be the last of the V8 for Ford, especially in the FPC flavor. This car was born a legend! It may not be the fastest, quickest or the lightest but where it may fall short it makes up in gobs of character. This is the kind of car that people talk about for generations, like the original. GT500? No thanks.

The next gt500 will be special, but so is the 350. Ford doesnt build an engine to use in everything. It'll be a special engine and hopefully a few things that make it extra quick. Make it optionally lighter with 315 min and auto option. Weight reduction will be a big deal in this car. More-so the next s650 when i suspect we see smaller displacement.
Seems like these "wars" may go on for some time.

In my opinion, there's nothing special about FI. Seems like taking the easy way out. What do people do when their car doesn't have enough power? Slap a blower or turbo on it. It's basically everyone's standard solution to making more power. From 4 bangers, onwards.

When it's a NA V8, youve got some room to work with going the NA route.

The only way I see the GT500 engine being really special while going forced induction, is to keep the FPC in there. Now that would be some incredible stuff.

We will see! A motor becomes special IMO, when it is designed to hold up to said power. Yeah, you can FI anything...but was it engineered for FI? THAT and they dont drop it in any other model. I think the 5.8 is a special motor as do i think the 5.2 FPC. A lot of new tech went into the 5.8. Same thing with 5.4 and 5.2.
In order to become top dog again this GT500 will be one wild stallion!

Ford paid for the name & the Shelby name. Highly unlikely they won't use it to charge more an SVT cobra like they did in 2007-2014. As well with the current Shelby GT350 instead of continuing on with the BOSS name. The Shelby name adds $$$ to Ford's cars, plain & simple. Would you pay the extra $10K for the 350 if it was labelled as a BOSS?

The ~10-15k price delta between the boss and the GT350/500 has very little to do with just the name. I would still buy the car as it stands, labeled whatever ford desired. Although Boss 317 doesnt really roll off the tongue.
