Not going to stop me but anybody concerned about running their car at the track and having an accident. I know competitions and racing are always excluded but I'm curious if that applies to test and tune. I know shit happens but i'm a little more concerned about the guy next me coming over.

I had a friend tow his car outside the strip and then report an accident.... Morally wrong? That's a hard one to answer because I don't feel bad for insurance companies lol.

If the insurance finds out, there are some serious fines and jail time for fraud. Not suggested. I always let the the other car go first just in case. (As evo8904 pointed out). Never get a great reaction time this way but at least I won't get side swiped by the other racer.

It's not just the other guy if your concerned. My engine let go at about 135mph close to the finish and when the 8 qts of oil dumped on the headers the car lit off in flames pretty good. I was lucky to get it stopped, get out and put the fire out. No insurance so all repairs was on me 2011 modded SS with about 20,000 miles on it. You either need to be ready to pay to play or get insurance. And if you or boosted I would say keep a fire extinguisher on hand :)

Agreed! This past Saturday on the pass that my driveshaft broke, the car next to me caught on fire at the end on the track.

I wouldn't even attempt to lie to the insurance company. I was a investigator with a top 3 insurance company. They will find out and send you to jail for fraud.

My Farmers agent said I was not covered if the car was on the strip, no exceptions. Track coverage for a year runs around $1,200 to $1,500.

I've only ever heard of (and bought) hpde/track day insurance. I've haven't seen one that will cover drag strips once you enter a staging lane.

This is a quote I got from Fenix. Only good for 1/8th mile. That may have changed, you would need to call.

Brian,
Beautiful Car! Very Clean! Love all the specs too :) I am considering using swaintech to coat my valves, exhaust ports, combustion chambers and pistons as well. Ive heard it is well worth it and many guys look at that as insurance on the parts!

For clarification, the On-Track & Off Track coverage do not cover you for driving the vehicle on the street as it is a physical damage policy only. There is no liability coverage, no uninsured motorist, no medical coverages on the policy. This policy would cover the physical damage of the Mustang while racing On the track and would also cover the vehicle during storage or trailering. The policy carries a 10% deductible and the annual premium is $1608.

If you just want to use the On-Track Coverage only in conjunction with your regular use auto insurance policy, with NO Off-Track and Storage coverage, we would be $1335.20 for the season. That carries a $1000 deductible and would cover you for 1/8th mile racing only, NO 1/4 mile racing.

We clearly have options here it just depends on what you want. There is currently no product on the market that covers a car for On-Track, Off-Track and Regular Street Use coverage.

I figure I'm a whole lot safer at the drag strip than I am out redassing on the freeway. I don't sweat the insurance.
