16 GT base wheels on a 1968

Got a guy interested in buying my 16 base GT 18"x8" (non-pp) wheels to put on a 1968 Mustang. From what I researched, it looks like he would need adapters to do so. Was just asking on here to either confirm or not whether they would even work. I dont want him buying them if they wont fit. Thanks yall.

The bolt pattern is the same. However, I believe our cars have much larger studs for the lug nuts than anything in 1968 did... this will probably become an issue ;)

Plus, the car doesn't have a TPMS system :lol:

Well, I crunched the conversion, the original 1968 Mustang had 1/2" studs, and our car has M14 studs, which come out to about 0.55". Wonder if someone makes an aluminum lug nut that can bridge the difference...or if 5 one hundredths of an inch is too small of a difference to worry about it.

EDIT: the 1968 Mustang has a 70.3 center bore, and the S550 Mustang has a 70.5 center bore. A .2 MM difference...I don't know how critical it is for the center bore to match up, and once again, seems too small to worry about to me. The wheel will mount, but I'd let someone who really knows this chime in!

If offsets are right (tire and wheel clears inboard and outboard) it should work fine. Lug pattern is the same and hub bore is almost identical as well.
