So I have my first track day ever coming up this Friday in South Beloit at Blackhawk Farms. I'm running in the novice group and it consists of 5 sessions and 2 classroom sessions. Just checking to see if anybody else will be there. It is being hosted by a friends Porsche club and registration is open.

I don't have my car yet, but how often do they do this? I'd love to get some track experience. Is it open to any type of car?

Yes, this is considered a "Drivers Ed" meet day and is mostly novice and intermediate groups, so any type of car is welcomed.

Not sure how often they do it, the guy I know runs 5-7 times locally with a race prepped Porsche.

I'm not too far from Blackhawk but I don't get my car until this weekend. I'll be looking to do events at the Milwaukee Mile and Blackhawk before I go to the big daddy in Elkhart Lake.

Blackhawk - what a fun and historic track. It's a little tight but if you can drive it well, road america will seem like the autobahn ...

That's the part that scares me. I'm used to tight. That's what I said to her. But no seriously, I do mainly autocross so the agility thing is a whatevs.

Don't be scared. Except for "the kink" - which everyone fears - RA is a fun and mostly safe track. I haven't been there since they got rid of the bridge after Canada corner so there's one less thing to hit. Quick aside, I did my first track day there in an 88 LX 5.0 and the brakes lasted exactly 2 laps. Drove it home 5 hours on the e brake with my tail between my legs

My schedule won't allow me track time this week, but I plan to get to Blackhawk a few times this summer. I have about 200 hours on that track, mostly enduro karts and motorcycles.

I think MVP still has open spots for June 6th at Autobahn. I've been there several times in my '13 Boss and will be going for the first time in my GT350 in June if I can get it broken in! I am thinking about their weekend at Road America in July. I've never been there.
