Hello!

I have Mustang engine 2012 V6 3.7 and want to put a turbo on it. Does anyone knows what power can handle stock engine internals?

Thanks ;)

DR do not be angry ;) I'm from Europe and here to be honest we do not have experience with American engines..

Full story is: I have V6 3.7 engine from 2012 Mustang and I want to put it into my drift car bmw e36. of course, I want to add a turbo and increase power around 550 hp to rear wheels. But I do not know that engine's limits. Should I change head gasket, studs, change compression ratio and etc..

So I hope there is some who could share his experience and information about these engines.

Thanks a lot! :)

youll need to build the bottom end to make that power level reliably, in a drift type car...ie....wide open and high revs a lot. I don't have a turbo 3.7, but I have looked into it some. youll need rods/pistons to make over 500 for long periods of time. 450-500 is fairly safe given a good tune on the stock motor...might not handle the torture of drifting for long though..maybe somebody with more experience can chime in

Like fordguy said, if you want long term reliability you need to build the motor. I'd say if the motor is not in your e36 yet then take advantage of that and build it before dropping it in. If this is a budget type build then just toss it in there and stick to around 400 hp with a good tune.

Thanks guys for the information.
I see it's better to put it iwthout a turbo and have more seat time. I need that car would be reliable.
If i will not put a turbo then programable ecu is not needed also.

So my second question would be what will i need to start the engine with original ecu? Original electric pedal, key, abs sensor?
Did anyone tried to put such engine into another chassis?

I'm assuming you have a previous gen engine, from the S197. That uses different sensors AFAIK. Might be best to hit one of those forums up.

I think the issue is one car uses MAF and the other MAP, which is why the previous supercharger kits needed to be redone. Doubt they have done a S550 but I would like to see a turbo on one of these cars.

Geeeeesh, and here I was, super excited and thinking about a 2015 v6 turbo. And then you go and say 2012.

At the moment I think about such kit: borgwarner twin scroll turbo, Vems ECU, 650cc fuel injectors, Bosch 044 fuel pump, stock intake manifold, . Jms Chip specified that stock engine should hold ~500hp. Hope such kit would spin well :)

In my opinion I would try and stay away from LPF if I were you. They have some cars on the road that are doing okay, but there is a very negative stigma towards their quality and customer service.

If you are seriously interested in turboing any cyclone (3.7 engine) mustang of any year, you should join the cyclone facebook page. There is plenty of people who can help you with your goals. There is also someone who makes a very high quality turbo kit for the s197 cyclones and is looking for a s550 cyclone to mock up a prototype turbo kit.
