Turbo 3.7 V6?

i think the reason they havnt done a eco v6 in the stang yet is....it would be a tune away from blowing the 5.0s doors off. i love v8s just as much as the next guy....but a tt v6 has crazy potential with just a tune and some bolt ons.

The ecoboost v6 is cool i really like but you can get more power from the v8 with simple mods if they took away the V8 idk how ford will maintain i don't see that going well for them

The next gen Gt will be a v6 turbo. Just wait and see.

most of fords mustang sales are v6/2.3 right now. they wouldnt loose everybody. i dont want to see the v8 go away...i guess well just have to wait and see.

Turbo/Supercharged is the way to the future. I would say the V8 sticks around for maybe another generation or so then the V6 turbo will be introduced

911 is going all turbo now, So is BMW, and just about everybody else too

Nostalgia, will Keep you some loyalists but as has been proven, an independent rear suspension and turbo 4 brought in many more.

Alot of what drives the V8 is also ego, If ford were to keep the V8 exactly as it is, but it were no longer the top dog of the line up in price or power, there would be much raging in the forums but that would be what people would buy.

I remember reading all of the doom and gloom about he Ecoboost Mustang,

Ford was killing the Mustang,
It was going to be a sales flop
Not a real Mustang Blah, Blah Blah

ALL of it ended up being wrong. The Eco has been a sales success

If Ford sold a 1 cylinder Mustang with 600 hp for 30k or less getting 40 mpg, that's what I would drive.

Just remember, the first Mustang came with an I6, Carb, body on frame, and a solid rear axle. It shares nothing at all with the new one other than a name.

I wish Ford would have put the 3.5EB out of the SHO into the Mustang. The aftermarket would have gotten behind it just as well as the 2.3EB and it would have been amazing. I would have bought that car in a heartbeat. End of the day, my car will have boost and hopefully be kind of practical.

Exactly. Times change. I'm sure a few years ago some people laughed at the speculation that the Mustang would ever have IRS or be sold overseas.

I have a feeling that when the time comes that you can no longer get a V8 in a Mustang, you won't be able to get one in a Camaro or Challenger either. It's called evolution.

The sweet rumble of a big V8 will be greatly missed when it is gone, but that alone is not enough justification to keep it around forever. How often do you see a rotary phone, typewriter, or 8-track tape player these days? Something better ALWAYS comes along.

The V8 wont go away, it will simply be moved to the expensive halo models that are limited production like the GT350. With small production numbers it wont affect their CAFE numbers that badly. I also bet you will see smaller turbo V8s in the regular GT like what Mercedes etc. are doing before eventually V8 is the top model only. The volume models will be turbo 4s and 6s.

Are they the same transmission for example, the SHO engine should just bolt up?

It seems like EB swaps are actually pretty difficult due to all of the electronics. There was a blog about swapping the 2.0EB into a foxbody and he ran into a lot of difficulties. I'm still dreaming Ford releases a 2.3EB with control pack for my foxbody project plans.
