Bama is no go for the eco as far as tuning...since you got a SCT go with Unleashed or get the COBB and go with Adam.

*UPDATE*

I have spoken with Bama Performance Support and have confirmed that they do not fully support the ROUSH CAI with the *insert removed* That being the case, they have recommended that I keep the insert in place as they work on providing support for the tune that will allow the insert to be removed.

The reason being that the ROUSH CAI is fairly new to the market and they are in the process of moving their Dyno and development center so that it can be started. I was informed to check back in over the next few months to see if they have any ETA on having the tune 100% supported for the insert removal.

Just an FYI for anyone having issues with the Bama tune and their ROUSH CAI with the insert removed.

The day that Roush released the "ok" to start taking pre-orders for their intake, I bought one. When I received it a couple weeks later, I installed it without the insert along with my offroad LT headers. Lund sent me a 93 tune for my nGauge and it started right up. Submitted some data logs for them and never looked back. I did have some false knock but it was an exhaust clamp tapping my floorboard at WOT. In short, Lund has a tune already for this CAI.

spark plug gap

After having the same issue most tuners say to check spark plug gap.... ford says it's supposed to be .32 but most tuners/aftermarket companies are recommending .26. I was having considerable knock between 1800 and 2300 with intermittent between 2300 to 2500 due to higher boost and temps above 90 degrees. After checking gap it was allover the place between .28 and .40 between the 4 plugs. So I got new plugs regapped to .26 to .27 ads close as I could get and knock stopped between 1800 to 2300 as long as boost is kept below 0 to 5 below 2200 ish and below 10 to 2500. Temperature dependent of course. But on average keep below 10 under partial throttle. Wot has none to one random ping if in extreme temps 95 plus... (partially due to boost limiters being removed in 1st and 2nd. Remember never go full boost in 6th unless over 3000!

Great insight. I ended up having the car dyno tuned by a local shop and they were able to confirm that some of the S550's can not handle the high timing during the tune process and the possible cause of the issue was due to the fact that Bama might have created their tune on an engine that could handle the high tuning and my specific engine couldn't. The tuner said he pulled back the timing and then the knocking completely stopped across the board and she finally "woke up!" and is running like a champ right now.

From the Bama 93 tune it ran 385 to the wheels and then after being dyno tuned by this shop she put down 409 to the wheels. I have learned my lesson about email tunes and will only use dyno tunes from this point forward.

Or..........the problem was the company sending the email tune.;)
