Getting my car paint protected with XPEL

IIRC I paid $750 installed for Xpel front bra, headlights, door edges, A pillars and leading edge of the roof. I know I follow too closely sometimes in traffic and I will be taking the car to the track. With a black car I think it's worth it. Lighter colors the chips might not be so noticeable.

I prefer original paint as opposed to automatically conceding to a future paint job. I'll try to do it myself, though. The prices they get for this stuff is out of control.

Does anyone know the difference between 3m scotchguard and the pro version? Where can one buy full rolls?

Just traded or sold them "as is" - used and enjoyed.

I had an interesting conversation with a collector ( I will drive not worried about collector)
That said, he told me applying X-pel could devalue the car in the long run, if it has any affect
on the paint. He said more so than some natural road rash. So at $4500 for a full wrap
I decided not to do it. I am going with a high end ceramic wax ( opti- coat plus)
which will be less than a $1000 on black paint, never need to worry about swirls or
waxing for 7 years ( warranty) considering not a daily driver and garage kept, should
last much longer, won't protect from rock chips, I think it will help with small stuff.

I XPel'd the entire front end and added Ceramic Pro to the entire car. It may be cheaper to touch up or repaint later, but I want the car looking new all the time. I don't want to live with blemishes for years until it gets to be so much I repaint, nor do I want to be constantly touching up to keep it looking new. To me this is worth investing in the protection.

That's one option. I don't have a "plan" for trading or selling the car so I'd like to keep it as perfect as possible so that my options are open. I think part of the enjoyment of owning a nice car is keeping it nice - enjoying a nice wash day and then a drive...all that jazz.

Just to throw it out there. I was quoted $2254 today to apply Xpel Ultimate from the mirrors forward and the roof only.

I'm in this boat. Last 5 cars have been three 911s, a C63 and an M3. I haven't ever put any kind of paint protection on any of them. I get why some people do, but I feel like those who like it mistake their preference for a necessity.

Same. I can see if tracking a car to PFF the front, but daily driver it's like buying insurance you may never use. As as per below you STILL may get dents and chips (the paint can still crack from the force of the stone and pull that glue off the paint could come out of the chip with the film) through the film

Fading and other long term effects concern me with these products. I think there is probably a fine line between a chip that is prevented vs a chip that would penetrate the film any way. I guess if I was shelling out that type of coin I would want it to be bullet proof.
I was in the North Ga mountains this weekend stretching the car's legs a bit with two other friends and the amount of loose gravel from the recent snow was sickening. I had a blast but didn't even want to look at the front of the car after hearing the popcorn bouncing off my front end. I thought I should have invested in a full wrap. Most of what I saw was dust however and it cleaned up nicely the next day.
If I daily drove this car in an environment that subjected it to constant battering like I saw this weekend then I would probably go ahead and do it.

Agreed. You could easily get a dent from a rock at high speed through the film (film doesnt beat physics), or even a chip that presents itself when you tug that sticky film off eventually; the paint could come with the film leaving a chip anyway.

It's a risk with it still that you pay all that money and still end up with dings and some chips.

Thats a good price if it's wrapped and from the front bumper, fenders, mirrors, and the roof.
