Thanks for all the excellent info and process flow Manders but I'm confused over which system gives which info.
My car was ordered late December'15 and Stacey told me a couple of weeks ago that it was scheduled for build 25/4. My dealer sent me a screenshot of Vista showing VIN, Est. Prod date 16/5 and ETA to dealer w/e 30th July. Putting my VIN into ETIS only gives the car details and build date of 30.11.0002. I know it's still early days yet but I'm getting excited that the car may soon be conceived.
Basically, what website should I track to keep tabs on what's going on? I know from following these posts that I need to take it all with a big pinch of salt anyway.
If I dare to believe delivery late July that's better than the original 9 months I was quoted at time of order, maybe even some summer left to enjoyed using it.

The dates in Vista are estimates at this stage. At present all you can do is keep banging your VIN into the Research Maniacs window sticker site. When your sticker appears you will have your blend date, when the car will be built. A day or so after blend/build ETIS will update and your specification will start to populate.

You will not get anything in etis until it's built, you can put your in in here to get your window sticker
http://researchmaniacs.com/VIN-Number-Lookup/WindowSticker/FordSticker.html?title=YOUR VIN HERE
This will give you the build date and spec

I've just been given that date as well, but was told the VIN would be issued around a week before, so you've done well getting one that far in advance.

And I'm now getting excited as well....

I think the 25 April date is what was given to all builds that are the last of the MY16, to effectively get them pencilled in for build before production line moves to MY17. My dealer said this was the case and that date could move a week or so...

I ordered in Feb and don't have a date yet so mine is expected to be a MY17 build whenever they start for RHD

Ask your dealer to check Vista, without mine informing me I wouldn't have known I had a VIN. I told my young salesman Chris that I would sing his praises on this site if he kept me well informed. Unfortunately he's told me he's moving to greener pastures soon so I might be heading towards an information black hole like many others. I'll let you know when my window sticker crops up.
