Anyway, now I'm starting to think that a turbo charged 302 is a possibility for the Z/28.

Are you ignorant? Or just pretending? The crying over who's engine smaller and lighter is so lame. Let it go. Give up. Who gives a fk. The weight and outside dimension has nothing to do with anything. The only benefit of a smaller outside dimension has is if you were trying to squeeze something into a narrow frame rail or engine compartment. I'm so tired of people bringing up engine weight and dimension.

Really? So a bigger, taller, heavier engine has no impact on how a car races or handles? Why not just mount the engine on the roof and see how well your car takes the curves. :frusty:

Everyone tends to forget that the six gen mustangs gained lot of weight, and unfortunately the gt350 and even R version got affected by it. Ford did its best to loose a little weight from the R version with more aluminum, carbon fiber wheels, rear seat delete etc. In reality the car is still heavy but an amazing performer. Imagine if it was around 3400 lbs.yes the all new gt350R beat the Z. But for me ( if I were a Ford fan) I would be worried what an alpha Z, with a new engine, would do. You gotta remember the Zeta was old and the LS7 got announced in 2005. Not exactly cutting edge, and it was still within 1.5 seconds of the all new R with its amazing everything (because that car is absolutely amazing!)
I don't think that's true at all. You don't think GM could build a 5.0 DOHC to match the coyote's performance? I have no reason to believe they couldn't. They chose to stick with a different technology for their v8's.But the GM guys don't like to hear the truth when a smaller displacement engine has been toe to toe with them.

Just look at the V6. It's a 3.6 DOHC making more power than the 3.7 in the mustang. Ford and GM simply chose a different path to reach similar goals. I think it's great we have options.

My point is the z28 is no slouch and for the 75k it wasn't a bargain. Ford once again proved more can be had for less and it's done so more in the past. It's called aFORDable
