I hate comparison threads like this.

Its so easy to make more power on these cars. all you have to do is add another degree of timing, and your going to make more power.

These cars will make power up to about 25 degrees of timing or so.

The only way to do an accurate comparison, is same tune, same dyno, back to back, with datalogging.

If one tune has 16 degrees and one has 18, the 18 is going to make more, it's not rocket science here guys.

In general, lund wants to give you a safe conservative tune. Take our 2015 for example, we were pushing probably 6-9 degrees more timing than the average customer is going to get. But we know were playing with fire.

Especially if you've been through the datalogging process. It's as simple as saying "i want more, i understand the risks" etc....

look at kelly's first engine ken tuned it made killer power, right up til the engine blew and it came apart.

look at our car, it made killer power on lunds tune until the design of the block was exceeded and we pushed through the water jackets and then we went to a sleeved block.

sbd, sheldon, etc.... you want to play, play, you just have to be prepared for what comes next.

I did same dyno, same car/mods, same day with just swapping tunes this past Saturday. In my case, the cost of a new remote tune was worth 41rwhp and 20rwtq. Having seen logs of a Whiplle car on the new calibration... OP is probably going to see the same result that I did. The cool thinng about the OP going with whipple's tune is that their calibration adapts. OP can easily fill up with 100 octane and then put a 3.5 pulley on without having to do another remote tuning session. Or, turn down the boost per gear or globally. I'm envious of Whipple's calibration but my car absolutely hauls ass now.

There are, no doubt, some clear advantages to Whipples tuning.

Being as that I already had Whipple tuning, and updates are free, I may of well just stayed with Whipple had I not wanted E85. But I would rather run E85.

I understood that I wont be the king of 93 octane when I signed up... but I still wanted to get a 93 tune so I can fill it up if I ever need/want to. So far I am pleasantly surprised that I am not noticing a handicapped yet. I dont know if I will break 700rwhp on this 93 tune or not, but I feel like it could fall on either side of the fence. I will start a thread on it when I get on the dyno.

it's whatever makes a customer happy, another tune could net another 40, and another 40 more on top of that, really depends on where you want to quit lol

:)

it'll be nice when lund wants to do the flex fuel on the remote tuned cars.

Yeah, I wish every gas station was e85 lol. You can only go so far on 93. I feel for the guys with only 91.

this is the major future hurdle isn't it? I was really bummed when I heard they don't offer flex fuel on the ID1000's (or perhaps I heard wrong?)

I honestly think it's way more important than some some fancy traction control software, but that's just me.

What's the point of making the extra e85 power if you can never put it down. The software is priceless!

If Whipple does id1000 and e85 and flight control .... Game over!

That would be game over!!! I agree with putting the power down. At my power, I'm burning threw tires lol. But, I would only use e85 or 100 octane for the track. On the street, 93 is too convenient.

Here in Colorado, its 91 or E85 from most pumps

The choice is simple if your chasing safe power.

I have a feeling that one day......whipple's tune will work with 1000cc injectors:cheers:
Either Whipple direct or a piggy back on the Whipple tune.
They have already proven their mastery of the ECU with the new Whipple tunes and dynamic timing change capability and throttle limiting all without reflash.
Whipple tune has all the pieces for either internal or external E85 flex development. Question is whether it also goes thru emissions.
+1 Whipple
Flawless victory
FINISH HIM!!
Lol...

One could make the same argument in response: what's the point in making extra power only to limit it at all non-insane speeds.

I'm not dismissing the flight software. I think it's cool. I just think e85 is cooler, and here in CA where we have terrible 91oct that's more like 87 in other states, e85 is King (luckily it's everywhere in my city)

Agreed, while some might enjoy making less power in lower gearing, i for one wouldnt. Yes traction is a problem right now, but its a GOOD problem to have. You bought a PD blower, stop trying to treat it like a Centrifugal. If you didn't want that instant flat torque curve, you should question why you went Twin Screw.
After I eventually replace the clutch, halfshafts and tires, here's to launching and breaking parts:cheers:
