I show an overview of the installation of the LED side marker lights, with an important tip to make removal easier.

The video on Diode Dynamics is definitely misleading. It's very hard trying to depress that clip to release the markers. They make it look like it was nothing more than just reach under there and push the button and it pops right out.

On the driver side my wire is so short that it's impossible to get the socket in a position to plug-in the side marker has to be done from the inside another almost impossible task. I'm actually waiting for a replacement for the driver side because it fits so loosely it blinks and then just goes out.

So, I have one with the incandescent and one with the LED...I must admit the LED light looks awesome.

It's definitely not simple. I think the best way to get them out is to use a flat head screw driver for leverage. As long as you press on the very top of the clip, it makes it easier. But on CJ's video, they say you can do it by hand, I'd like to see that! I couldn't do it, but then I guess I have slacked off on my finger exercises. :D

Yep I tried several screwdrivers before finding a very long shanked one that provided enough leverage get it out. I was almost to the point of giving up.

I finally got them out thanks to your advice. It was still a pain in the butt, but took me like 10 minutes to do this time around.

I looked at the clip when I took them out, and they were much tighter than even the DD ones. The end of the clip scraped against the plastic providing friction to prevent it from easily squeezing.

I found the best way to pinch the retaining clip was the pinch them between my thumb and the side of my index finger. On the passenger side lay on your left side and use your left hand. On the driver side do the opposite.

That was the only way for me to get enough leverage to pop them out.

Agreed, I used the same method but I just used the tip of the flat head under my index finger for better leverage.

Thanks for the video.

I'm debating clear vs. smoked markers for my OW car. Any reason you went with the smoked? I guess to go with the stripes and emblems?

I'm honestly not sure if ours was a bit looser or what, you just give it good pressure on the clip then pop it out. I personally did it, didn't take a whole lot to pop them. Sorry, we certainly would have covered it if it was that hard, but it just didn't take much on our car.

Anyway, thanks for the video and tip!
