Today I decided to install the black running pony on my grill because I hate chrome. Prior to purchasing, I watched Bill from CJ Pony Parts install which looked like a pain in the ass but very doable.

For a $50 part, the set pins could be made to take a little pressure - I think they are made of black toothpicks. Well, all of them busted off trying to get those washers that hold the pony to the grille in place.

To make matters even worse, I dropped the damn thing and one of the pony's feet snapped off - so I am now in the process of gluing this piece of turd back together and using 3M tape to secure it to the grille.

And the icing on the cake, the wife says (and she knows I am already pissed) "Every modification you have done lately you have broken, lost nuts / washers, etc.". Maybe its a hint... Ehh, women, who says you can't live without em?:paddle:

Man I feel your pain. I did this a couple days ago. Cjpp video makes it look so easy but its a bitch. Wish I would of just 3m adhesive glued the thing on to begin with. I couldn't get the washers on the tabs either heh.

I broke two of the four pins, I'm thinking I'll try some epoxy eventually.

Plastidip the stock pony. The hardest part is taking your time with the taping. I chose to swap out the 5.0 emblems but that was easy. I dont think swapping out the pony was worth damaging anything. JMHO

CJPP has some balls charging what they do for that POS. I got my stanginator pony for less than that, and the quality is light years better. It has threaded studs instead of cheap plastic pins.

Depending on how it looks tomorrow with 3M tape will decide if I toss it. I could have been original and had a one footed pony on the front of my car

Do you have a pic of your grille with the stanginator? I am thinking this will be the route I go next. I feel like this plastic turd is damaged goods now and can't put it on...

Here ya go. Erik, the guy that makes them, is awesome to work with. I'm thinking about getting a second one to replace the GT emblem on the trunk panel.

I have mine on with 3M tape and it looks perfect, just had to put a few pieces on top of each other to get it thick enough to make contact with the grille.

I think I am going to temporarily place my Gorilla Glued pony on the grille so it looks complete but will end up spending the money to replace this black and broken hunk of deuce.

Thanks for posting the picture!

Tell her she will be your next mod if she keeps it up! Ha
Ha ha! Cheaper to keep her... I know of no man who said they got a clean breakaway without giving more than half of everything to the ex. :eyebulge:

I did the same exact thing! The oem tabs are crap! I ordered another emblem and pushed the washers onto a small screw driver to stretch them out before doing it again. Worked like a charm didn't brake anything.

I broke three of my four trying to install it.

Totally not worth it. Ended up using double-sided tape.

But now I'm doing a Roush conversion on it, sooooooo it was pointless.
