Vendor input is welcome, but my decision will be heavily influenced by "Joe" owner/user.
I've been out of the "game" for a few years, and technology has passed me by. My last muscle car was a 1998 Pontiac Formula that I bought new and sold about 6 years ago. Back then, the options were pretty limited to a Hypertech with a canned set of tunes with some very minor user selectable options and LS1 Edit, a pretty powerful and expensive PC based editor, which I had and was pretty proficient with.
I've had my 2016 for about a month and 200 miles, now, and the only mod I've been able to get to is installing a Magna Flow Street CB. Future mod's are, in order:
- Air Flow mod. I'm probably not going to install a CAI, as my past experience is that they look nice, but really don't do too much to increase airflow/performance. I'm going to look into a better flowing filter and possible air-box modifications.
- Tuner.
- LT's with high flow cats.
- FI. I haven't yet decided which system at this time, research is still ongoing as this will be the first experience with this power adder, as I used to be a N2O junkie.
- Suspension/drive-train mods.
This is what I want out of a tuner:
- Stock tune storage and ability to retrieve/re-install.
- Low cost after purchase. I don't want to pay hundreds of dollars, every time I need to tweak a parameter or two.
- And the "Biggie", excellent customer service/technical support.
I'm not wanting to impress anyone with HP numbers or quartermile times, all expectations are just for me. Initially, with CB, airflow mods and tune, 400 RWH. After FI, 600 RWH.
Before anyone starts to b!tch, I know "search is your friend" and I've done that and read until my eyes were on the verge of bleeding.
Thanks in advance for your inputs/advice.
