Has anyone completely removed their rear cradle? Please share any tips you may have.

I need to replace a diff bushing, I damaged a front when installing the steeda inserts. I am putting in BMR diff bushings and cradle bushings. I am going to have to cut out the factory bushings.

Got the cradle out and new BMR diff bushings in. Getting the cradle out wasn't too bad, but Getting the diff bushings out of the cradle was a PITA!

The BMR cradle bushings are going to have to wait until tomorrow. Going to the AMA supercross race at Cowboy Stadium tonight. Hopefully I can get it buttoned up tomorrow.

Yeah the rear cradle looks intimidating at first glance but once you get in there it isn't actually that bad to remove. Good luck with the rest of the install.

Reinstall is tricky if just using a floor jack. I used jack stands to help balance the Craddle on the way back up as well as a nice stack of cribbing. The Craddle is pretty heavy so tale your time and shouldnot have an issue.

I am thinking I am going to skip the cradle bushings. I am dreading pounding them out and I have read some reviews showing that the nvh from the diff is significantly reduced with oem cradle bushings.

My car is a driver, I don't race it or drive too hard.

If you don't want the cradle bushings you can always get the lockouts and I think steeda has a sleeve that drops down the center to keep it aligned, you would use that with the lockouts, plus diff lockouts, either no increase or minimal compared too full bushings with improved handling, work it just for keeping the rear from swinging out on hard launches.

http://www.steeda.com/2015-mustang-parts/#/product/2862 yeah you can use the bushings to align the cradle or inserts and cradle supports which is less nvh but doesn't completely stop the movement just most of it. Still a vast improvement plus there is also differential inserts one for street and one for racing, the one for street says no increase in nvh so again big improvement but doesn't stop it all. If using cradle lockouts, supports, diff lockouts, vertical links, toe rods, better springs, shocks and tires, some where between there depending on your setup you should have eliminate wheel hop.

How did you "bang" those out? I spent a few sawzall blades just trying to make them weak enough to press out. You must have hulked out on those.
Sawzall, chisel and a small sledge. About 3hrs and a burning forearm later and they were out.

OK, sounds about right. Just looked like you pressed them out somehow. I removed all 8, IRS bushings and diff bushings. Plus the two toe link bushings as well. Except I only had to score those and press out with a ball joint press. My ears and arms were tingly for the rest of the day.
IRS bushing hacked out.webp

I am going to be installing the BMR Busings soon as well. How was the increase in noise? I suspect you can hear gear noise more?
