Given how lame the changes for the 2017 GT are I'm predicting that MY18 Job One will start early I'm thinking April with deliveries in mid to late June. It just makes sense. They can't possibly compete for long in 17 with all the great reviews the new Camaro is getting.

i doubt they are worried about competing performance wise ford will still dominate sales as usual from a business stand point there is no need for them to up the ante eventually ford will bring an engine update like they did with the 3.7 and 5.0 back in 2010 and just surprise and break the world

Oh please this Ford is going to die because they didnt change the 2017 Mustang nonsense. Ford is selling nearly DOUBLE the cars monthly and the new Camaros are barely even getting to lots, with the turbo not even being built yet, and it's almost March.

Camaro is not going to catch up in sales before the 2018 Mustang to begin with.

And car magazine reviews mean nothing. The Camaro still looks like the old, bad visibility, ugly, and overpriced

I would love to see the following engine line up. I am sure we will probably see a Hp bump next year.

2.3L Echo base
2.7L Echo upgrade
5.0L GT
5.2 L 350

I agree the visibility is bad but I don't think it looks awful. It's lighter and the handling is supposed to be significantly better. I probably won't buy one but I will drive it for comparison - magnaride, dual mode exhaust, heated steering wheel, sunroof are all noticeably missing from the GT.

My point is that Ford is going into model year three with nothing new, so I have to think MY18 will be the year for changes, and they'll bring it out sooner rather than later.

I'd like cylinder deactivation in my 5.0 for road trips. Maybe 2018?

Ford is going to discontinue all mustang models. Introduce v6 TT cyclone and watch the world burn

I like cylinder deactivation in a truck but not a sports car. Just my 2 cents

A sport car shouldn't have a fall release date. It should be a spring/summer date. Don't get why both Ford/Chevy put their Mustang/Camaro on a winter release...really dumb.

Some companies do go with a shorter model year if their are changes coming.

No freaking way. I escaped "active fuel management" when I traded in my Silverado. God help me if Ford puts it in my sports car.

I'm a Track enthusiast, Which I would guess is a very small percentage of over all mustang sales. The Mustang blows away the Camaro in almost every aspect of form, function, style, etc. except a small advantage the Camaro SS has over the GT on the track (which pains me to admit). The GT350 out performs the Z28. So, IMO, I don't see Ford in a rush to upgrade significantly in the next few years. But . . . you never Know!

I wouldn't mind if it could be turned off using a toggle switch

I agree, I don't see Ford updating anything performance wise until 2020. Although I can see them doing cosmetic revisions in 2018.
