So it looks like I will be ordering my GT. Leaning towards GT premium with performance pack black rims/ Ruby Red /black roof/ red line interior.

Hope the color of the red line goes well with the ruby red hard to tell in pictures depending on lighting /flash havent seen and I dealerships

painted black roof. if its a nice mirror finish++ esp. with black rims , blacked out emblems and tint

I think the pp is a good value cconsidering what you get. The brembos alone on other car options like the mx 5 cost more

So what other options are worth getting?

401a
Shaker™ Pro Audio System with 12 speakers
HD Radio™-shaker pro was not impressed when I compared with 9 speaker system / could definitely upgrade aftermarket beter/cheaper
Driver’s seat, mirrors, and ambient lighting with memory feature memory seats- nice if the easy entry/ exit is working/ also if you have more than 1 drive using car.
BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with cross-traffic alert -blis would be nice esp. you had an auditory warning if turn signals were on in the direction of detected obstruction and Cross trafic alert- nice to have backing out of blind parking spots you probably should have backed in.

reverse sensing sensors

1.nice worth it if it save you from 1 backing accident it

enhanced security

1.• Active Anti-Theft System -probably worth it alone
2. • Electronic-locking Center Console- nothing a pry bar wouldn't defeat
3. • Electronic Steering Column Lock* assuming mechanical without this option?
4.• Wheel Locking Kit- good to have

Premier Trim with Color Accent Group
-upgraded leather with soft touch door pannels sounds good

Voice-Activated Navigation System

thought I would pass due to android auto coming out, but second thought nav on a nice 8" screen ++, and would you be able to mirror your phone to the 8" screen , don't know andd when will it be out in a stable configuration

I mostly through this thread out to see which options people got and we're glad they got or in hindsight wished they hadn't and which OPTIONS people didn't get but now wished they had

Get what you can afford comfortably. Don't worry what other people think. Get what YOU like. I got a V6 and many think I was too cheap an should have got a GT. Fact is, I got what I was comfortable with, and I'm happy with it. No one else know what YOU want. If u get a base V6 with 17" wheels it's still a Mustang. They're all awesome these days. With my V6 I would love to have had the V8 and leather and heated seats and Nav and all that, but I'm comfortable with what I bought. Bottom line it's in my driveway and I enjoy it, and you should too. No matter what you have there is always something better. You can never have too much, but don't overextend yourself.

Focus on what you can afford first.

For me, 401A and PP is necessary. All the other stuff is fluff.

Got them all and more

I mostly through this thread out to see which options people got and we're glad they got or in hindsight wished they hadn't and which OPTIONS people didn't get but now wished they had
I ordered mine with all the electronic options. After one month of driving I am happy with 401A as it is a superb sounding system. Haven't tried the CD yet but everything else works fine. I don't regret getting the trunk mounted Sub. Spatial adjustment of the sound on the screen is fun.

The Navigation is great and works as described, the screen turns to indicate your direction as up. Voice input of addresses is a major feature.

Blis works as described but takes some getting used to. I adjust my mirrors to eliminate blind spots so it is just backup. The collision alert red led will surprise you when they activate and I guess that is the point.

Adaptive cruise control is more effective than the descriptions. They say it doesn't apply the brakes. But it sure does slow the car down effectively when someone cuts in front of you??? And if you hit the turn signal to move into a clear lane it accelerates nicely. The only drawback is the odd switch setup. (On/Off/Set on one switch)

Reverse Assist, nice when you forget to check both ways when backing out of a parking spot and its sensitive enough to indicate a car coming from over 50' away if it has a clear view. Additionally the indicators on the screen while in reverse make it easy to center the car in a parking spot and also to stop before the tires hit the curb. "Excellent"

Enhanced Security, I hope I never need it but when running errands with the top down I can leave items in the console and just lock the doors. (only do this when I'm stopping for less than 10 min. Any more than that and the top goes up. I'm not stupid enough to trust the bad guys more than that.

The Premium Interior option is icing. Softer door treatment and the Redline door panels complete the effect of the red seats and stitching. As an aside I added the GT350 steering wheel and modded it with red to match.

Since you are going manual you won't get to experience the paddle shifters or the aggressive shifting in Sport+ mode, that the 6sp Auto trans offers.

I don't regret getting any of the options I have. I didn't upgrade the wheels because I will go aftermarket later and I don't regret not getting the PP or stripes or the CS package. And mine is a convertible and I don't regret that either.

The only regret I have is not getting the reverse parking sensors. I thought I wouldn't need them since I have the camera but i sure do really want them now that I don't have them.

I've seen Ruby Red with Redline in person at a car show. The car was a convertible. For me, it really doesn't match well. Looks like it would match much better with Race Red. I would encourage you to wait until you find a ruby/redline car you can see for yourself in person. Don't base your decision from my opinion!

Here's a pic I took of it:

It's the only reason I chose silver over ruby red. I was dead set on redline interior. Ruby really is a gorgeous color though, especially when paired with the PP and black roof. I love it.

I just got 400a FWIW. I didn't want any of the nannies and the stereo didn't bump like my old shaker 1000. My only options on top of 400a were premier trim, black roof, and nav.

When I ordered my car. I would have like to have shaker pro system and not all the other stuff that comes in that package. So i just ended up getting a GT Prem with Performance package, Enhanced security, and voice navigation.

Damn Ford and the Red interiors on mustangs. Was never a fan of the red. Back in the fox body days the red interior was known as porno red. When i bought my 91 Race car it had Porno red interior. I ended up ripping it all out and bought as many new interior pieces as i could in black then painted the rest in black. Not my car in pic below. But just a porno red picture

I really like the reverse system. I had it in my 14, and do not have it in my 16, I miss it. I use the garage, but two of my kids park in the driveway behind me, to the right as I back out. The backup sensors help.

My interior looks exactly like the picture American posted. I am really happy with that and magnetic grey ext.

401a looks really nice if you can swing it all.

One thing, read up on upgrading your stereo later. It's not as easy as you might think. No kits for it yet, and you need to keep your head unit to run everything. If you really like bass, and really like to crack up the sound to acdc, get the most stereo you can afford.

I just locked in my purchase yesterday. Here's what I went with and a few reasons why I didn't get other options:

Performance Package - I'm much more interested in 0-80 than I am 80-160. Brembos.
Voice Activated Nav - I don't want to have to type in the location I want to go to. Pretty simple haha.
Rear sensor - I've seen it save people even with the back up camera. It's nice to be able to hear how close you are to something as you back up.

I'm not a huge radio guy, so the 401a didn't matter to me. I wish I could just pipe the sound of the engine directly into the car :) The ambient lighting feature will be something I'll miss, but I couldn't justify the extra cost for that. Cross traffic sensing would have been nice, but I use my mirrors pretty damn well.
Premium leather - I actually DIDN'T like the soft leather on the door. My current car has that and, quite frankly, after a couple of years, it looks like crap (if you use it as a DD).
Adaptive Cruise - I live in Houston so the thought of using cruise control is a big old joke. If I'm on open road enough to use it, regular cruise is good enough. I don't want my car altering my speed for me.

Doesn't 401A's BLIS take the place of reverse sensors?
The memory function of the seats is a must for multiple drivers, but does it control the mirrors also?
The rear sub should also be a plus if it performs well enough...
