Hi guys interested to know if anyone decided to go with the styling kit option in the picture below. Its a 50th anniversary grill but they are offering the tri-bar pony badge on the rear filler panel.

I ended up adding it to the car and will be fitted by my dealer before delivery. At 1400 odd dollars its not cheap but I loved the old school touch and after weeks of thinking it through couldn't resist and gave the go ahead.

What does it consist of? A V6 decklid, spoiler and front upper grille?

Its the grille and rear filler panel only, the spoiler is a separate option

Yes, I got sent out a brochure about this and something called an 'outlaw' body kit by Ford, or rather I think it was my dealer as it mentioned certain sales staff. No pricing was mentioned.

I confess that I'm not too into the retro stuff and prefer a cleaner look. But that's just my view. I had a little think about it, but soon concluded that it was a 'no' and would rather spend money on other enhancements. My guess is that if you've got an older Mustang in your life (i.e., '67), you'll perhaps say, already got one like that, but if you always wanted an older Mustang, but it never really fitted in to your life, this might be a great option.

I think the GT decklid delete in the USA suits the car a little more than that one. It's more of a little lip. Again, just personal opinion.

I guess the thing with all mods is whether you plan on keeping the car long-term, or if you plan to upgrade. The expensive and visually obvious mods don't usually add value to the car unless you find the buyer who absolutely loves what you've done. So if you plan to upgrade, keep it within certain limits, i.e., subtle enhancements (which is what I'll be doing, and they'll be mainly under the bonnet or under the car things), if you plan to keep it, go mad. This mod is obviously more on the former side of course.

Note that when it comes to buying an older car, the more stock it is, the easier it usually is to get it back to where you want it (rust aside :)), and stock + is usually what you look for, and what commands more $$$$. All this is a general rule, of course.

The only external/superficial thing I'm thinking about is getting rid of that faux petrol gap and getting a US-style one. I confess that if I were getting a Magnetic, I'd be sorely tempted in having black stripes, proper ones, not the rubbish Ford Australia offering, i.e., those silly faded ones.

I must say I hate the GT badge on the rear. it was one of the things that when i first saw the Mustang i Thought.....well thats got to go :-)

Good on you for making the decision. It will be making you smile long after you have forgotten what the price was.

I don't think you are on your pat malone there. What were they thinking? But doesn't the grille surround thing and the faux petrol gap actually work together in a way? ;) Well, at least we can actually use the one on the '67. You know, you can actually put petrol in it.

I will probably replace with the badge in the P51 Thread. Feel free to laugh but I am an aircraft nut too.

Ok cool. I suppose if you want the convenience of the dealer fitting it for you etc.

Otherwise the total for these 2 items will run you around $800 delivered. Even with todays shitty exchange rates. Plus you'd get to keep your originals.

Mr Hybrid's got a point there. I'd be keeping the originals in case you want to sell, or you simply change your mind. But I guess it depends what price you put on convenience.

I can understand that (my office overlooks an airport and I get to watch the planes all day). If I got a chance to have one aircraft, I'd take a Sea Fury over a Mustang :) (post-war, yes, but these things sound fantastic - who needs a license-built Packard Merlin when you can have a Bristol Centaurus!):

I confirmed with the dealer that I get to keep the originals.

I will admit that the price is hefty however since I am lucky enough to get a pretty big car allowance through my job the car and all modifications are a tax write off for me anyway so i'm not too fussed.

I'm not a fan of the kit to be honest but each to their own. I hope you love it!

50th grill option

Like SPRTAN I liked the 50th grill and rear filler panel. so went ahead and got them. sitting in the spare room no car yet, extra bonus the filler panel came with the reverse camera already installed, so will have a spare camera as well if needed.

I did see a cheaper option for the rear filler panel was to get the blank panel from CJ,s and purchase the tri bar pony emblem of your choice and stick it on.

:)

It's a long held dream of mine to build an 80% scale replica spitfire. Not likely to ever have the cash for the kit though.
