Actually didn't GM say it'll outrun the 5th gen SS but not the 1LE? Let's be honest though, a 1SS or 2SS Zeta chassis is not exactly very good on the track. It's incredibly sloppy unless it has the 1LE Package.
That is correct sir.

Also, regardless of how you spin it, this is a V6 that is faster than the outgoing V8. That is REALLY impressive!!! I cannot think of a single car manufacturer that can say that, and the V8 SS was not the slowest in its class......just sayin.

Is there a time for a stock gen 5 1le at big willow? If so we can subtract 3 seconds from that and we will roughly have the time of the gen 6 1LE. Then we can compare that to the GT350 and the GT350TP at Big Willow. Does anyone know any times of the 350 at willow? Of course this is all relative (different driver, day, conditions, etc). Both of these cars are so badass I can't believe it.
The article says it is 3 seconds faster than the current SS, which is faster than the 5th Gen 1LE.

it has an engine!
I never use magazine tests as a good bench mark. Its a starting point to get an idea of what its working with but the numbers arent accurate. Its best as a curiosity read and to not let their numbers hold water.

1SS 1LE MSRP $40K VS. 350 track pack.MSRP $56K. Now the Camaro can be had with a discount. Real #'s $38000 Camaro. VS $61000 350. The Z28 next year will force Ford to bring back the GT500.
LOL, you think the a 1LE-packaged Camaro 1SS is going to MSRP for $40K? Keep dreaming. Will it offer a performance bargain, probably, but it will still be just a Camaro 1SS with an aggressive suspension setup. One suggestion for the trolls that frequent here every time some new information related to the Camaro is released, tell GM to lose the matte black hood wrap. The hood on the 6th gen already looks like a toilet lid, with the wrap it makes it even more so.

Exactly! It produced the 1LE which is supposed to be the competitor to the GTPP, even though it kicks the s^%$ out of it in every performance metric know to man! A car that will most certainly hang with if not beat a GT350TP and likely at no less than $15K savings.

Come on man, what is really important here? You want to be brand loyal to a fault, go for it. But I can be just as fast for way less because I owe no car manufacturer ANYTHING except the asking price on my next purchase.
lol now we are at 15k less. It will also be worth 15k less on top of that after 2 years. If you are purely looking for bang for the buck, yes I fully understand.

If you are looking for something truly special with one of the most rewarding driving sensations to date? Well that is where the GT350 comes into play. The GT350 is about a whole lot more than magazine times and no one is going to approach you on the street "mannnn, is that the new 1LE? can you start it up?!?!" Not that I really care about that crap, but it really draws a ton of attention

No "just sayin'." It's the real deal man. If you're looking to spend mid 40's on a car, you'd have to have a brain made of overcooked scrambled eggs not to consider a new Alpha SS.

I love your analogies. First the owl and now the toilet lid. What makes them so funny is that when you step back and look, you're right.

This is why I said "roughly". The gen 6 Camaro is not hugely faster around a track than the Gen 5 1LE that we know of. By the progression I have used we should be able to figure out the minimum time around Big Willow for the gen 6 1LE given equal conditions. Again the word used was "roughly".

True, so maybe $42K-ish +/- $500. Thats roughly a $1500 increase from last Gen. Thats almost a 50% increase, pretty sure it wont be any more than that.

I agree on the hood wrap, good thing it is easily removed with 15 minutes and a cold brew.

Just because people like talking cars(all cars) doesn't make them trolls. A troll is someone that intentionally bates others, and I have seen none of that in this thread.

In fact, up to now it has been filled with great discussion.

GM says it competes with the PP Mustang GT, but does it really? Its far more expensive, includes more bits, and aimed at a different market.

The GT PP imo should be re-labeled the "brembo package" and offered on all GTs. A new performance package on top of that would include actual stiff springs, stiff shocks, bushing upgrades, etc. for a meaningful increase in handling. Heck people have even said the aftermarket Ford Performance suspension kit is better than the PP suspension in *ride quality*.

Yet, in this case the base GT350 covers that market already, and has a better engine, suspension, areodynamics, etc over any GT. With the Camaro being massively expensive now, its not even that far off in price vs a V8 camaro.

LOL....nice post. :)

I was highlighting the article referenced the SS and not the 1LE.

Doesn't change that you were roughly correct.

The 1LE will not be 40K...electronic differentials? Upgraded brakes over the already massively expensive brake upgrade on the available options list, coolers, new seats, and Mag Ride. That's not $2700 worth of hardware. My guess is $46,995 out the door if 1LE is the only check box you choose.

The Shelby GT350 R-C did win the continental @ Daytona but there were only 8 cars and only Porsche. No Camaro,Bmw, Aston Martin and etc.
Keep in mind the GT had the second fastest lap time at Daytona.

The 1LE will be fast, it will be pricey. But I think it will still be a bargain if you want to track a car, and DD it.

Yeah, you are right....$12K-13K is probably a better conservative guess as a GT350TP will cost you $56,500 with GG tax.

You are 100% right about the how special the GT350 is!!! No 1LE will EVER come close to that! Don't kid yourself though, every 1LE I have ever seen at a car show gets PLENTY of attention......as long as it isnt parked next to a GT350 :hail:.
