Looks like I somehow managed to quote the wrong person on this post... Whoops. All new chassis and design from the 2015 MY. How is it having a tough couple of years? The car is still very new.
That's also one of the most memorable races in the history of Le Mans and set the tone for Ford for the next 50+ years. That race defined Ford as a brand and proved that you don't f*** with Ford because they will show you up. :ford:That's passed.. We live in 2016.. Lol

Just another thread where the GM fanboys will get to accolade their parts bin car cause it's cheaper...
Guess if I had a bucket of parts I could build something cheap too. Smh...
The car and driver editor counts as a third party source. I would like to see more comparisons, but the fact is that someone other than Ford drove the stingray z51 and a gt350TP and the z51 was faster in all metrics. What 3rd party testing outside of a Car&Driver journalist/editor?
Randy Pobst tested the GT350R vs the Z28 at Chuckwalla and was a little over a second faster in the GT350R: 1:57.87 vs 1:59.0
While each track will vary depending on track length and design (favoring each car's strengths), Randy's performance validates Ford's statement of:
"Specifically, the GT350R is good for lap times equal to the hundredth of a second compared to the $130,000-priced 911 GT3, and over a second quicker than the Chevy Camaro Z/28."
So i'm more inclined to believe Ford's statment that the 350TP is as fast as a C7 Z51.
Actually didn't GM say it'll outrun the 5th gen SS but not the 1LE? Let's be honest though, a 1SS or 2SS Zeta chassis is not exactly very good on the track. It's incredibly sloppy unless it has the 1LE Package.Chevy says the 2016 1LE V6 will run with last year's 1LE V8 - and that the 2016 iLE V8 is considerably faster on the track than last year's model. On some tracks, the 1LE will beat the GT 350.
I agree. They don't get proper time to acclimate to each vehicle in the lightning lap. I also say the c&d article isn't the end all be all. I want to see more tests.I don't hold C&D lap times in very high regard. Especially their highly flawwed Lightning Lap test procedures.
I also saw a spec miata pass a Ferrari 458 on track. I don't draw any conclusions based off that any more than I do C&D lap times.
Let alone they use multiple drivers of GREATLY varying ability (seconds) or track condition changes throughout the day (seconds).I agree. They don't get proper time to acclimate to each vehicle in the lightning lap. I also say the c&d article isn't the end all be all. I want to see more tests.
I love miatas and will grab an nb or nd eventually but that's a whole other discussion.

Exactly! It produced the 1LE which is supposed to be the competitor to the GTPP, even though it kicks the s^%$ out of it in every performance metric known to man! A car that will most certainly hang with if not beat a GT350TP and likely at no less than $15K savings. No harm in that if it works.
