Thinking of getting my wheels done in anthracite:

Gotta admit I really like it!
What you guys think?
Nice. I want a set of Bullitt wheels in anthracite but can't find them for the GT.

The new ones coming next week are niche misano in anthracite so as soon as I have them on I will post picks - well after a cup of monkey tea....

if you want to look at wheels the MHT website in the US is very good, once you have chosen just find a uk supplier. It is not really worth the ball ache to ship them over

Hi there

As I plan no engine modifications for a while, though trust me a remap is so tempting when 40BHP is on the cards for ÂŁ400, but for now I shall ensure my engine is getting maximum potential power stock.

So this arrived today:

The stock cold intake track on our cars does not have a ram air effect as it is located back from the grill behind the blocked area.

What this little device does is bring the intake cold tract right upto and more or less sealed right behind the open part of the grill, though you do have to cut out some of the honey cones, see next image:

So this little device does a great job of directing the cold air directing into the air box. Even more so the stock design collapses at higher speeds really starving the stock intake of air and as such limiting horsepower when it does collapse which is a 50/50 chance as the stock design is poor (rubber). As the part inserts into the rubber not only is it directing the cold air direct to the air box but it also means the entrance won't collapse as well ensure maximum ram air effect.

I did this on my M3 with the CSL intake, using hoses to force cold air directly into the air box and the difference was noticable, both improved throttle response and of course the car pulled more eager/harder at motorway speeds. :)

Will get this fitted at weekend hopefully as it does mean partially removing front bumper to get it in place and I am sure it can be adapted to work with other CAI's on the market as well.

Hi Gibbo. Have you taken a gander at the Roush CAI? It has a venturi included so it fits as a direct replacement for the stock airbox without requiring a tune (and doesn't void your warranty), then the venturi can be removed for tuning purposes (does void warranty). It also has the ram effect from the front grill. Any opinions? .....

I'm not so keen as they are not a true CAI as the seal against hood is not so good and they tend to let warmer engine air in. They always look good on a dyno but in real world doubtful you gain anything.

Best to just grab a high flow panel filter like Afe, aem, or K&N and the device I have to create ram air effect. :)

Stock air box is good MMR air raid CAI looks good as its sealed.

This is what I'm fitting, just the modular pipe and kN filter.
The original intake pipe has a bulbous bit underneath any ideas what it is?

Where did you get that got a link?

CAIs don't gain anything other than on a dyno, panel filter and VT Ram, I have them all waiting

The bulbous bit is an Intake Resonator it quite a the engine down but stops backflow of air from the harmonic pressure waves of the cylinder, making it more efficient as air fills the resonator allowing for smoother flow and more efficient cylinder filling... This is a very simple explanation

Most CAIs get rid of it to make it noisier...

Fitted, was recording air temps last few days without the RAM air once all upto temperature the inlet temperature tends to sit 5-7c above ambient temperature, unless you stop in traffic. Easy enough for anyone to check this though.

Fitting the RAM AIR, first thing I notice, throttle response, it is better for sure and car is more eager to pick up. I also drilled out the honey combs to give more flow. Car seems to pull harder for sure, no doubt due to more air flow, not because air temp is lower. But to compare and I will do some more checking over next few days but inlet temperature is now 2-3c above ambient. :)

P.S. Fitment was poor, maybe US cars don't have it but a wiring harness runs where the big mouth goes, had to cut around an inch from the big opening side and half an inch from the smaller opening so the front bumper would easily go back into position.

I will probably buy that modular kit, 4" TB too so allows me to upgrade at a later date

Looks good!
So this removes the sound amplifier thing that sends engine noise to the cabin. Does it come with a bung?

Also great thing about this is in theory it means I could use the stock air box with the shelby 350 intake manifold and throttle body. :)

P.S. Got a link?

You can use it with the sound amplifier, or cap it off at the pipe and firewall I believe!

Cool as I like the sound amplifier, cannot get enough V8 noise! :D

I downloaded the fitting instructions for the Roush kit. Seems like you need to remove the factory induction resonance tube and then plug the hole left in the bulkhead. Really don't want to start pulling things off if I can help it, so I think I'll knock that one on the head.

Higher flow filter and that widget to increase the ram-air effect sounds like the best option for a 'no tune required' improvement.
