Just had an email from Stacey at Ford with my vin number. I know some of you have then be able to track the car, get window sticker etc. Where do I go to do this?
Appreciate any help & starting to get more excited about the car!
Cheers Greg

Thanks for the replies- Stacey did not give a build date yet but was hoping for more news next week- she advised that the problem at the docks has affected production as no where for the cars to go once built - put it down to the bad weather?.Just checked & no window sticker yet but some details on Etis about the car (not much). Now I have something that I can keep checking like everyone else!

My 2.3 EB was built on 3rd December, (ordered in July 2015)left for Baltimore over the Christmas break.

It has been doing an Ottis Reading (sitting on the dock of the bay ) since the 4th of January 2016, and still not given a shipping date.

Karen and Stacy are as helpful as they can be, but there is only so much they can do.

Now I suspect the Magnetic colour looks Polar white doing a Michelin man impersonation under all the snow.

The word that sums it up is "Frustration"

It could be so much better.

Come on Ford pull your finger out !
Sounds like your car is probably sat next to mine. Not sure who it benefits to have a load of cars sat at the docks for weeks on end. I can't see a logic to it and am yet to have a satisfactory explanation on how this system 'works'.

I know it's been brought up before, but if anyone saw the 'Making Cars Live' BBC documentary a while it was interesting to see how this small island ships the entire worlds supply of Minis with so much efficiency, they don't spend more than a few minutes parked anywhere.

I did see it, with James May right? It's a plant dedicated to that car alone, also compare Mini sales vs Mustang Sales

Mini sales WORLDWIDE: 338,466
Mustang sales USA: 73,124

Add in the factor that Mustangs now have to produce RHD/LHD and export to multiple continents (as they upscaled from usa only to worldwide in one fell swoop, whereas the mini has been a gradual expansion). And you have a different side of it.

In FEB we should be able to see the Mustang Sales worldwide when ford release their Yr/Yr earnings report and the breakdown by product.

On the non-defending side, US are renowned for being rubbish with producing cars

The production is one thing. Most cars don't spend too long in the plant. A day or 2 on the line, then around a week before release? I still think that's pretty impressive for something as complex as a modern car. But 12 weeks for delivery, and the biggest chunk of that being waiting at the docks I think is a little unreasonable. You said it yourself, mini production vastly outweighs Mustang production, so for all those cars to be shipped from a small island like GB, spending zero time at the docks is testemant to the European attitude to logistics and efficiency. I a country as big as the US and with a notoriously demanding populace you would expect them to be on it a bit more on it with their shipping turnaround

I too now have a VIN number. Actual progress!! At least they should make it before they remove Guard from the colour choice.

I wish you had you car now. PLEASE build his car on time! :)
Petition? - We'll find out Monday/Tuesday if it's been built on time!

jord79 Yep but the docks issue is purely down to ford using existing infrastructure and putting mustangs on boats with other cars, waiting till filled and then sending off, Mini's probably just mass produce all on the same boat. Mustangs are about 30-100 a boat, Minis probably a few thousand. That's the unfortunate realisation of why they sit at the docks so long!

Having been told mine was at the docks and waiting 'allocation to a vessel' a couple of weeks ago, I'm hoping all the cars that don't appear on WWL are on a K Line ship.
